The future of America's high speed rail is starting to take shape in the same spot where trains have been serviced, built and rehabbed since the 1850s. Amtrak plans to replace its popular Acela trains in 2021. The new Acela trains are expected to hold more people, improve safety features and travel faster. Kris Van Cleave reports.

Trains are great, NYC to DC could be faster and Newark station is horrible and dangerous.

If only this factory could produce more Bullet trains in this country. Sadly the auto, farming and airline industry lobby Congress to keep America’s mode of transportation in the twentieth century with planes and cars as the only mode of intermodal transportation. Sad!

The new train isn't going to be breaking records nor it will be on par with the higher standards that the rest of the world has achieved with more sophisticated systems of train and infrastructure.
They can order the best trains but that's no guarantee those trains will run at full speed on what should be considered dated and decaying infrastructure.

Interesting but these nearly identical Alstom Pendolino trains are in use from the UK right across Europe to Russia and China, originally an Italian design, Alstom took over that company some years ago.

A/C compressors on the top of the cars? What junk. Look like tinker toys. And that's an insult to tinker toys.
