Virology Lectures 2017 #20: Antivirals

Vaccines can prevent disease, but they have little effect if an individual is already infected (an exception is rabies). Our second arm of defense is antiviral drugs. In this lecture we discuss antiviral drug discovery, how some currently licensed compounds work, and the origin and mechanisms of drug resistance.

I work as a nurse in phase 2/3 clinical trials in antivirals for blood borne viruses- where has this been all my life?? Should be mandatory viewing, I'll be taking this back to my unit.

Gilead should be more aggressive marketing Truvada and Descovy to prevent HIV.  It would help the EPS and maybe the dividends.
