The outgoing premier of Alberta, Canada, flew to London at his own expense, stood in that queue for many hours to pay his respects, and then flew straight back for provincial government business. I served the queen at Westminster on the day of the funeral, emergency services, we didn’t get the chance to pay respect as we were working all the time, the people that worked to ensure the logistics and safety of others didn’t even get a look in, not a thought. It’s a shame.
