I had one, a little cinnamon stick. She was a beautiful and sweet little girl. I’d pick her up with one hand and cradle her like a football; she loved it. She lived for 18 years.

I work at a vet, and we got the SWEETEST little old lady Dachshund patient there. She comes in for nail trims commonly, and I'm always so afraid of hurting her back. I kneel all the way onto the ground so I can tuck my arm under all four of her legs and chest/abdomen and keep my other arm around her for security. She's so good. Ugh, I love her. I'm so happy she can still run and romp with that little tail going a mile a minute.

I love how stiff dogs get as soon as you pick them up XD I'm used to cats who kind of flop around but dogs just become a solid object as soon as their feet leave the ground

I’m a mini dachshund breeder I always say pick them up how you would a shotgun 😂 very important lesson though for all future and current owners!

YES!!! My old weeny dog died of back problems, their backs are long and carrying them the wrong way often will lead to future back problems.

Exactly, they're prone to disk injury, so always be careful how you pick them up and don't let them jump off a bed or sofa, it's not good for their backs either. Ive only had doxies, I have two now, a long haired red, an a long hair English cream. Ive also learned that the long haired doxies seem to have better temperments than the short haired. But they're all wonderful!! I ❤ doxies!
