Lol as someone who had a dachshund, this is BEYOND relatable. Oscar was a lap dog, a blanket fiend, a cheese addict, a yogurt junkie, obsessed with digging, a pillow princess, but damn he could tell if you weren’t feeling good & he’d do anything to make you smile & laugh

When I, German, 70 years old, was born, my parents kept a beautiful dachshound ( Dackel) . The first word I could speak was the name of the dachshound " Ronny" pronounced
" Onny" by me. Mama and papa came next. He never left my side and did not allow any stranger to have a closer look at " his" baby.
Never forgot him ❤.

My dad has a mini dachshund. He had to rehab in a nursing home for a few weeks after being hospitalized. The home allowed people's pets to visit.
Dad's dachshund came in, looked at him in the hospital bed, hopped up into his lap & proceeded to growl & everyone else that came near him.
From her perspective, he was perfectly fine, some people took & away & must have hurt him because now he wasn't ok. No one was going to get close enough to hurt him again on her watch!

Can't believe he let having a husky go without comment 😂. Although I guess "perfect" meant "well at least you're crazy enough". 😂. And love the pen click. 😂

A little fun fact: in italian, instead of the term dachshund, it is used the term "bassotto" which roughly translates to "shortie".

I have seen my dachsund dig many different things, my bed, the crack between the sofa cushions, the base of the sofa, car seats, the plastic tray in her crate... I have never once seen her dig dirt.

I miss my little dachshund, Prize. I still have her collar and I still cry every time I hold it. It's been 35 years. I love you little one.

I had my dachshund until he passed at 16 years old. Otis was king of the house. Loved that dog ❤❤❤❤😊

Had a daschund growing up, she was a rescue, and she loved to dig, that was her favorite thing outside of cuddles. She lived up to her name, which was snugs, a truly cute girl. I still miss her, she passed away three years ago. Not a day goes by where I don’t miss her.

Just call it Dackel ("duckle") 😅
I actually never heard a German call it Dachshund.
