Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother...and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.

Lawrence Talbots childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brothers fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate.

As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himselfone he never imagined existed.

The fact that the film is set in the 19th century adds a dark and elegant atmosphere.

Watched this again after 12 years. The problem with these films is you never forget the twist. Still, this movie was so well made and didn't deserve to flop

I really like this movie. I'm surprised that it didn't get the love that it should have. It was right on point with the time period, and I can truly appreciate that it didn't have a modern twist. The dialog was right on for that time period. No modern lingo . I'm also a big fan of the transformation part of the wolfman. Awesome!

To this day, this is probably one of my favorite Monster movies. Yes the special effects don't hold up, but I don't care. It made werewolves legitimately scary!

I watched this movie a few times!! Screw what the critics said about this movie, it's probably one of the best werewolf/wolfman movies since An American Werewolf in London!

Criminally under appreciated movie. Del Toro nails Larry, and Anthony is deliciously creepy. Love the hell out of this. If they went with the alternate ending, this becomes the most unforgettable Werewolf movie ever
