Academy Award® winners Anthony Hopkins (The Silence of the Lambs) and Benicio Del Toro (Traffic) tear up the screen in this action-packed thriller. Lawrence Talbot (Del Toro) is lured back to his family estate to investigate the savage murder of his brother by a bloodthirsty beast. There, Talbot must confront his childhood demons, his estranged father (Hopkins), his brother's grieving fiancée (Emily Blunt, The Devil Wears Prada) and a suspicious Scotland Yard Inspector (Hugo Weaving, The Matrix Trilogy). When Talbot is bitten by the creature, he becomes eternally cursed and soon discovers a fate far worse than death. Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins.

I saw this movie at an nearly empty theater. It was a real shame it never found an audience. This movie was awesome on the big screen. I was pleasantly surprised how well made it is. This is an underrated horror gem.

I love how the doctor never turns to wonder why there's weird bone cracking and tearing noises behind him or why his audience isn't focusing on him and seem genuinely shocked at his subject.

Fun fact. This scene was improvised. He actually turned into a werewolf and the director loved it so much he decided to keep it in

He didn't sprout wings, but he definitely flew out the window.

One of the great "I tried to warn you" scenes. Great score by Danny Elfman as well.

Even as a Dracula fan, The Wolfman never got the attention it deserves. This movie in particular is definitely worth a good watch for any werewolf fanatic

The fact that this doctor isn’t paying attention during the transformation makes it just the right amount of funny.

It's very sad to see this movie not getting the recognition it deserves. Benicio was so good in this one, he portrayed the trauma, the physical and emotional stress/pain he had to go through. And the line "his father is literally a monster", is much deeper than it sounds like. Sadly people just saw the vfx and makeup, not the portrayal.

1:30 "Anymore than I will sprout wings and fly out of that window". I'm only now realising the significance of that line to the plot 😂😂

"It seems to be locked sir" 😂 Nothing like British composure in the face of doom!

*I really enjoy this scene. They capture perfectly the agonizing pain that would no doubt take place going through that kind of transformation. So when he says “kill me” you really understand the depth*

I had the privilege of being in it, hence my nickname here. I'm one of the 'doctors' right on the back row on the left. I ran around that studio for either 5 or 6 days and yet I was left on the cutting room floor for most of it. It was great fun making it and thank you for the paycheck Universal. Joe Johnson looked after us really well with fresh coffee available at all the breaks plus cakes and sandwiches and a brilliant barbecue for one of the lunches. SUPERB.
I nearly got talking to Benicio at the first. I had no idea who he was and he was dressed in that scruffy suit so I thought he was just another extra actor. I'd seen some of the scene decoration going on and just remarked to him how good it was. He agreed, but then he was called away for a last check on make-up. Next thing he's wheeled into that room and I say to the guy next to me, I was just trying to speak to him. That's when he told me that it was Benicio.
We all made friends with Gabor, the stuntman playing the wolfman character. He was a really friendly guy.
Loved it and great memories. Sometimes we started at 7:30am and went on til 11:00 at night, but was worth it.

One of the greatest werewolf films ever made!

Sadly, it’s a short list.

I like how painful this transformation was. And they showed it in such detail that it was honestly uncomfortable to watch at times.
Like his feet changing shape and extending. His fingers being pulled back seemingly coming out of their joints. And his teeth being pushed away from each other as his jaw was expanding.

And you can see the blood while his teeth are being realigned.

Benicio fully committed to this role by becoming an actual werewolf.

This movie is under rated. It is actually worth buying.

I love how the doctor is so self absorbed, he doesn't even notice how everyone he's supposed to be adressing are not looking at him.. showing that he's not adressing them at all, he's only reveling in his own ego.

there's just so much to love about this transformation. showing the gorey gritty reality of turning into a werewolf, mixing practical effects with CGI, and not holding back with the brutality.
also, i love how even during the CGI running parts, the wolfman looks like he has weight to each gallop and leap, it really helps sell the whole sequence
