Arduino Analog Read - More To It Than You Think
In this video we look at the simple analogRead Arduino command. We use a potentiometer to simulate input, and finally a little equation to turn our 0-1024 step reading into a voltage.

I will get a small commission and it costs you nothing.

Paul, your videos on this clock are excellent _precisely_ because of the "errors" you made in assembly. It points out the fact that builders need to take care in assembly! But know you this: the clock is dead balls on accurate! Put mine "in service" about the time you made this video and its minutes roll over exactly when the NIST/WWV clock rolls over. I got two of them - red and blue - in the ham shack for local and UTC and they're absolutely in sync!
Thank you for your videos.

Cool. its 5/9/22 and this is about where I am. 1yr into Arduino I have built three Rc cars (Nrf24, Mega328, 6612FNG and generic ESC)on 2S. One 5 channel TX. My problem is I use other folks sketches. I have to work around this. You have my attention.

It's bed time here in Oz - so I'm saving this for when I can sit comfortably tomorrow and enjoy it.

It would be nice to see you read the voltage with a dmm and compare it with the serial monitor. I wonder if it’s exact

Hey great video, I've used analog read in a similar way to this to control an esc & motor on a test bench years ago. Used serial write as well iirc to talk to the ESC. thanks for the upload.

If you are interested in learning Arduino, I suggest watching this episode on something bigger than a smartphone.
Thanks for the Great Video
Paul 👍
God Bless.

Good stuff Paul. One more piece of information going into the information arsenal!

Great video!!👍 Maybe you should put something in your code to restart the readings every time you run the code. I can see in your terminal program that you’re gartering a huge amount of data. Using a refresh/return(0) might be a better way so that the readings don’t take to much space. Otherwise great demonstration. I’ve learned a lot from you over the time👍

i've used analog pins as an audio input for a "spectrum analyser " prohect and it work but audio signal must be <<5v

What is different if you want to use an analog pin for digital input or output?

no more than i think but very good video :)

It's more fun to learn programming in assembly

what I've learnt is that high and low is not an exact voltage like low means something lower than 1v and high means anything higher than 4v

Maybe you should go into a little at the end of what this is used for is real life applications.

As much as I want to learn about Arduino stuff, and electronics in general, this video is useless to me as I am only 2 days into learning Python, which from my understanding, the Arduino IDE is written in C++, which for all intents and purposes, means to use the Arduino boards you also have to know C++ programming. So there goes my interest in Arduino. Time to focus on my other interests.
