Thor learns of trouble in the Nine Realms and defeats Surtur, the fire demon, who taunts him about the impending Ragnarok and reveals that Odin is no longer on Asgard. Thor goes back to Asgard and sees Loki impersonating Odin and makes him break the illusion. After this, he makes Loki bring him to where he left their father which was a now destroyed nursing home. Thor meets with Dr. Strange who tells them Odin is in Norway. After meeting with his father, he passes away shortly after, releasing Hela from her imprisonment as his life force was the only thing holding her back. She destroys Thor's hammer, so Loki and him use the bifrost to escape, which gives her access to Asgard. After slaughtering all Asgard's soldiers, she takes Skurge as her lackey. This scene happens a little while after taking the throne.
