Bollex leave a gap, just but it up to the other piece and carefully with a soft spatula seam them together, without to much pressure as not to squeeze out the wallpaper paste.

having put up lining paper. i have applied the finished wallpaper and the horizontal lines of the lined paper are showing through.any handy hints, ( i have since filled the 1mm gap and sanded down for a finish still see the horizontal through my  vertical lines of final papering

Nice clear advice, but excuse my ignorance,   why horizontal, and not vertical. Does it really matter? Thanks

If you position the two pieces together correctly without stretching it... There's absolutely no need for a gap not will you have an overlap...
