In this video, Masha Livhits, MD, an endocrine surgeon at the UCLA Endocrine Center, discusses the signs and symptoms of adrenal problems.

Located above the kidneys, the adrenal glands produce hormones that regulate different body functions. If there’s a mass or nodule in the adrenal gland, it could create too many hormones and cause problems.

High blood pressure is the most common sign of an adrenal problem. Other symptoms include weight gain, muscle weakness, mood swings, skin changes, irregular periods in women and increased thirst and urination.

Went through all this for years. Finally had weight loss, joint pain. Mid back pain and noticed my skin turned a bronze color. I had suffered from fatigue but now could not stay awake. Adrenal failure. Addisons disease. Too late.

I have stage four non-small cell lung cancer and it was on immunotherapy that attacked the upper part of the Dino gland in my upper kidney. They don’t think that it’s cancer they think it’s an infection so I’m on. Potassium and prednisone and I cannot walk without the prednisone. I can’t even lift up a frying pan to try to cook for my family am so completely exhausted and I have to pee all the time and I cry but there’s nothing to cry about or I get mad but I’m not mad, so I feel like I’ve gone crazy and the pet scan lights my Adal gland up so I have to go to something called an in technologist and I’m also going to radiation and the nurse just called some kind of more medicine in for me and I hope I get better because I’m so weak. I think I’m gonna die.

"If you have any of these symptoms please consult your doctor" where you will be given a string of medications to treat the individual symptoms and not have your underlying syndrome recognised. Since anxiety is a system of being stuck in fight or flight mode and panic attacks are common, your symptoms are likely kicked into touch, with an 'anxiety' diagnosis. You will then be offered ever increasing doses of SSRIs and the ball put back in your court. Your blood serum cortisol levels look ok, yet your many symptoms alingn perfectly with this condition. A quick internet search will show that this is not uncommon, infact other tests are recommended if serum tests and symptoms are giving a conflicting picture, but that advice is given to doctors in America and your GP wont dare tread on the toes of the, higly respected endocrinologist you were sent to, the one that believes adrenal fatigue is a load of made up nonsense.
