Hey Folks! Welcome back to the channel. In this video I'm going to show you how to reset/recalibrate the ECM on a 2007 Cadillac CTS with the 3.6l motor. This ECM reset is to try and clear new trouble codes P0014 and P0021 after replacing the timing chains.

thanks for the conclusion of this repairm MOST DIY guys never finish that, code may have been left residual as a history code some vehicles do not erase this it happens while driving.

Thanks for your videos on the CTS. Had the same issue, replaced the chains, tensioners and guides. I also resent the ECM as you showed and it shows the same codes you got after the job, P008, 16&17. How much time passed before it resolved itself? Any other guesses o what could be causing the codes after the job? Any thought helpful

Hey I have a 2006 Cadillac CTS I got a new battery but my ignition cylinder broke and the key is now lost, my dad got a cheap mechanic to rig it and it was able to be turned on with a flathead if I get a new ignition lock cylinder and key will the anti theft go away ?

on my 05 cts- the ECM would not read + would not allow car to start. Resetting it, trying to re-learn the key- all failed. Wired up a button through the starter relay, and can make the engine turn over- afterwards, will start with key, run and drive. Not sure how it will work quite yet as far as driven distance

I have a 2008 cadillac sts and it doesn't start it just clicks, I currently have it in the shop the mechanic originally told me its the theft deterrent system the starter is good and starter relay right. hours later he calls me back and says its the starter its not sitting well with me now he's charging $530 with labor... im trying to figure out what the problem really is

Great video I have a question I have a 08 CTS and it was sitting for a couple of years and when I parked it every thing was working fine then when I put a battery in and got it back going now my telescopic steering wheel will not move anti lock brake system sign is on which was the speed sensor which I replaced but it's still is on I'm just at my wits end and I was wondering should I reset the ECM I have some other codes that says things like certain systems has to be relearned I'm going to attach a picture of it the codes that came up and if you could help me out I'll greatly appreciate it

I have no doubt that what you did, isn't what happened. I am a factory authorized trained master tech for just about every car line there was and over 30 years of experience. Anybody that had the same problem and tries your solution will end up having the check engine light back on. That I can guarantee. Because you do not even know the cause of the problem in the first place and did not know the solution to the problem either. I would like to see anyone that had the same problem say that your solution worked. No disrespect, but this is why mechanics are called mechanics and master techs are master techs.

Will this work with a 05 STS Cadillac?

On a Cadillac you will have to take it back to them for a hard reset. Those money chiesling bastreds will then chargee you approx $200 for the so call hour of time they will say they spent resettting all your system codes.
