My aunt lived in the same neighborhood as Mr Rogers. We were out playing in her yard when he walked by. He stopped and talked to us kids for 20 minutes. What a great memory.

One major addition: Rogers actually started out in TV behind the scenes and created his most famous puppets for a Pittsburgh children’s show before going to the CBC, all while attending graduate school. he did the voices and puppetry but didn’t appear in person until the CBC show but the groundwork came from those early Pittsburgh shows

In the '70s there was something really delicious called Jello 1-2-3, and it was Jello that settled into three layers when you put it in the refrigerator. The bottom layer was regular jello, the second layer was kind of like parfait, and the top layer was kind of fluffy. It was awesome. It should have been real popular. You made it like regular jello and then it just settled into layers all by itself. It was so cool.

I used the 3.5 floppy disc. I remember saving work on that before we graduated to USB flash drives and then the cloud.

Hey Rhett, I had a 1966 Corvair. Loved it. Then had to buy and put in a transmission. It was a stick shift. Miss that car.
I remember my mom putting shredded carrots in lime Jell-O and raisins in Orange Jell-O.
Good times. Simple times. Good manners, polite people.
Loved the cherry and lemon lime Fizzies.
Thanks for giving this old man good memories.
Thanks my friend.

Hi Rhett! I don't think I really hit your target audience (I'm from Germany, born 1986), but I really enjoy your videos! Your narrative style is easy to follow and you give an interesting perspective on things from the past. Thank you!

I own a 1963 Pontiac Parisienne two door hardtop, I've had since 1976. When I park downtown more people look it over than if a new Mustang or Camaro is nearby! Enjoyed your foray into the 1960's Rhetty. 😊👍

What a fabulous video! I'd forgotten all about Fizzies! I don't remember them tasting all that great, but seems I ate them anyway. I had no idea they ever made us celery Jell-O! 😱

As a kid growing up in the 60's I remember some of these items. Seeing the Corevair reminds me of a cousin that had one of these cars. Sitting in the back seat this car was so loud! Thanks for the memories!

My dad had a corvair, and he told a funny story (in the way he told it) of driving one morning and noticing a burning smell with the heat blowing. He turned a corner, and a smoking piece of insulation came flying out of the vent and the car started filling up with smoke. He pulled over and jumped out. Somehow, the source burned out without burning the car down.

Another good one, Rhett. I remember my little brothers really liked the Fizzy drinks. It is really fun to look back on these videos from the different decades. I was a teen in the 60's, a lot happened during that decade. Thanks for the memories!

Mr. Rogers left a legacy in Canada.
Fred Rogers had an associate, Ernie Coombs, who stayed behind when Fred Rogers left.
He started a show on the CBC called "Mr. Dressup".
It ironically premiered on the CBC a year before Mr. Rogers premiered on PBS.
It was a similar show to Mr. Rogers and occupied the same cultural niche in Canada from 1967 to 1996.

I remember having fizzies
The root beer ones were disgusting. I also remember owning several Pez dispensers. I also had a Flatsie doll. Thank you for the memories. 🙂

Loving these videos. Being a product of the 60's myself I enjoy seeing all the things from the 60s and 0s that I had forgotten about. Simpler time, wouldn't mind going back. I actually remember riding my bike to the store in the very early 70s ( I was probably 7 or 8, yes a kid that age could ride his bike to the store back then) and buying the Fizzys.
