In this first part of the nineteen parts series on the Sacrament of Penance, we look at the concept and the virtue of penance required for the Sacrament of Penance. We first define what the Sacrament of Penance is, then we look at the two crucial components of the virtue of penance required for the efficacy of the Sacrament. These are the sorrow for sins and the atonement to God for those sins.
