Updated and better to drive - in SOME ways... 2024 Hyundai i30 Sedan N review (Elantra N)

Has this update to the Hyundai i30 Sedan N - aka Elantra N - been worth the wait?

TRACK TEST HERE:

It's more expensive and more high-tech. But it's no faster! And there's some tech that's actually a bit annoying about this newer model.

But for the new i30 Sedan N there have been some significant changes to the way the car drives, including some adjustments to the suspension and steering that make it more liveable, new engine mounts to stop axle-tramp, and ESC recalibrations for track days.

It's one of the best cars you can get if you want as much bang for your buck. But would the new annoying safety features put you off?

This car looks amazing, exactly what a sporty sedan should look like, and it sounds magnificent 😊😊😊

As an owner of the '24 Sedan N, I honestly can't hear the speed recognition warnings over the exhaust and stereo sounds 🤣 The blue link features (unfortunately not discussed in this video), wheels, and updated design were worth it for me. This thing is a blast to drive.

I have Elantra N in US. Recently I visited Sydney Australia and I was surprised by how much i30 N (and sedan) was popular there. Made me feel great. But in the states, I'd be lucky to see one in 3 months.
I have old gen but I like the facelift's looks and wheels even better.

It’s a shame Stinger was discontinued, but there are still plenty of last generation stingers available on the market at the same price marks, I would suggest whoever interested in i30 go have a look at the stingers, you won’t regret.

N grin shift is a boost function in the auto and the button is rev matching in the 6 speed. Just an fyi

Currently have a 21 Sonata N line from new, cannot make up my mind between this or a new Sonata. When the lease is up, the pro’s and cons, almost balance each other out. No radar cruise may seal the deal against it. (Hard to give up once you’ve had it).

I am an owner of the 2022 130N premium with the extras. Love the ride and sound.
I have heard that the top speed of the 2024 is 280klms.

I have older and nannying is not a problem. For new, I suspect if you hit N button twice, it’ll put you custom mode which should turn off all the crap and then u can soften everything for street use.

What would be a similar vehicle comparison for ride quality. I drive a Mustang with magnaride, and am after a slightly softer GT ride.
Plus carsales says it does have adaptive cruise control, is this the case ?

Question is, if you can get your hands on a FL5, would it be worth the premium if you value resale?

I absolutely hate the redesign and will be keeping my 2022 for quite a while longer.

This car at certain front angles looks like that N Vision car Hyundai keeps threatening their going to make. This car is a track weapon, there's no doubt about that and you could bring your family along which is a plus. One alternate you left off but I understand why (its a hot topic right now) the MG5. Its punchy while not as surgical on the track(no track mode but it can handle the business)for less money. ANCAP decided to make an example of them with all the fresh cash they got for existing and MG Australia had the temerity to tell them they werent going to put ADAS in their cars because they wanted to keep their prices less ridiculous.

Great review Matt!
As an owner of the pfl model, not enough of a step up in features to consider an upgrade for me, and the addition of even more stuff i have to turn off every time i drive it is a deal breaker for me.
If they go awd and/or hybrid for the next gen, i reckon that'd be enough for me to pull the trigger on an update.
Keep up the great content!

Wish the red accents were an option. That red chips off so easily

Personally I am looking to buy this facelift or the new Kia K4 (Cerato) that is due to come next year. Or maybe Škoda Octavia. I want to support sedan manufacturers because there are still few of us who hate SUV's and ugly looks they present.
