Several folks asked about using the Carpuride Apple Car Play while still having your phone and comm unit paired to the Pan America. It works. With my Cardo Pack Talk paired to the bike, my iPhone paired with the bike, and the iPhone also connected to the Carpuride via wireless Car Play, the audio integrations with the Pan America still work. The volume control and media buttons on the left hand control work, and you can answer calls using the handlebar controls as well.

In my case, I could never get a reliable audio connection between the Pan America and my Cardo Packtalk, but if you happen to have a unit with a good connection to the bike, you can keep those connections and add the Carpuride unit in addition if you like.

Great review! You've become my de facto PA resource. I appreciate the work you're doing for our community!

As you probably know, the W702 Pro version includes the flush mount block attachment, as well as ambient light sensor. The flush mount block attachment is available for separate purchase from Carpuride, as is an additional power cable, so you can easily switch the unit between bikes. Just unscrew the waterproof connector and then put the cap on the exposed end to keep it watertight while nothing is connected. As for the screen reacting to rain - it would be handy to have a button on the top to activate/deactivate the touch screen, just as some Garmin units have. It is possible to have your own custom startup screen (eg a picture of your bike) instead of the Carpuride logo, but unfortunately you have to go through their customer support to arrange it. It would be good if this feature could be built in, using the SD card.

Just thought you'd like to know I just mounted my Carpuride unit last night using my existing QuadLock system. I just unscrewed the RAM ball from the back of the unit, tapped the threads out to 5MM and bob's your uncle. It's a little far forward for my preference, but I saved myself $50 buying additonal RAM stuff to make it work.

I just picked up a pro version of the W702. One of the nice things included with this unit is an additional mounting option. It comes with a little bracket that mounts up directly to a GPS bar. Makes for a very clean installation and allows you to nicely position the unit.

Thanks for the nice review. You addressed my question regarding the audio setup.

I got one on my Tracer 9GT—with Android Auto—and it works fine. I agree with the audio setup—it doesn't work well with the Carpuride in the middle.

I’m also a moto YouTuber and was just contacted be Carpuride. I haven’t committed yet as I’m not totally familiar with their products. I’d be interested way more in front/rear facing cameras and proximity sensors. I have an old school scrambler with zero tech and worthless gages that would benefit with a similar unit. Good job on the video, you’re way more tech savvy than me.

Excellent and honest review! Like that you covered the Bluetooth part and issues. Also thought the mount was AMPS in the back, good to know it’s not. Cheers

Great video, thanks . I just got the w702 a couple days ago, Using via Android auto and found the same as you, . It works better for me via the iplay output as well . Have my SC2 on my Schuberth C5 bluetoothed to my phone and the functions are working well . I don't have handlebar button functions but use a chubby buttons device on the handlebars and that works safer for me to pause music, answer calls or skip tracks

Good review thank you.. I have one on my RT and it works flawlessly. Just changed audio to be direct from phone to headset.

Hi Mike,
Thanks a lot for the very informative video.
FYI and the users of Carpuride you don't have to factory reset the unit to disengage it from your intercom....
From the Home Screen, you have to go to the Audio output (Purple Button) and choose your preferences.
IPlay/Auto: For your intercom to be connected directly to your phone and Carpuride is just a mirror of your phone (For me the best too), or
BT Trans: If you would like the Carpuride to be in the middle of your phone and your intercom with all the consequences you're referring.
You can change this on the go at any time....
I've just tried it...!!

Fantastic review - you've captured the good, bad and indifferent superbly well.

Your "glitch" has happened to me a couple of times on my Android setup - some kind of connection issue with the phone (Samsung), I think. It required a reboot, which isn't easy when riding. Frustrating, but not a deal breaker.

I did have issues with the first unit I had...customer service was delayed as you say, but acceptable. They directed me to carry out a firmware update, which resulted in the unit becoming an expensive brick - completely dead! That said, they sent me a new unit immediately and completely free-of-charge, which already had the firmware update installed and it has worked fine except for the "glitches" already mentioned; they didn't ask that I return the failed unit, so it sits on a shelf in case they decided to collect.

Great video. Thank you.

Im getting the tall version this week. I cant wait. Ive toyed with and add on to the oem to understand the deflection possibilities. The v model makes perfect sense, and the cost is ridiculously reasonable compared to the pop brands out there. Not saying they don’t work of course.

It also doesn't have a Aux output port wich IS available on the car unit. Most Honda Goldwings have a Aux port so i can hear everything via my main speakers.
