How to Fix Apple CarPlay if it's Not Working (Works in ANY Car)

If you've got an Apple device and are running into issues with CarPlay there are a few simple steps you can try to get it working again. In this video I show you 3 different ways to try to fix CarPlay if you're running into connectivity problems, regardless of the car that you're in!

If you're running the latest 18.1 iOS update and are running into CarPlay issues, one other thing to try is:

Go to Settings --> Screen Time --> Content & Privacy Restrictions --> Allowed Apps & Features and make sure that CarPlay is turned on

Dude awesome I just had a meltdown in my garage for like an hour. I think I’m using a charging not data cable. It was working fine with my iPhone 13 in my 2023 Tacoma but now CarPlay won’t work with my iPhone 16 but I’m pretty sure it’s just the cable! Bluetooth connection works fine as usual. Great video thank God for smart people!

Fantastic video. I do IT support for a living but for the life of me couldn't re-connect wireless CarPlay (I had a 'dumb' car up until recently). In my case, it dropped mid-drive and refused to reconnect. Volkswagen's documentation is poor. Walked away after 30 mins of troubleshooting, and came across this video which lays out steps very clearly. Back up and running on first re-attempt. Much appreciated.

Great video, thanks for doing this! I tried your suggestions and also checked the Allowed Apps you pinned in the comments but my issue still keeps happening. When I open up the built in camera the iPhone 16 pro iOS 18.1 starts flickering and my Honda CRV screen starts flickering and my FM radio starts going in and out. It does not do this in photo mode just video. I’ve tried other third party camera apps with my CarPlay and they work perfectly fine. Also if I open up the Google app the flickering happens again in the car not on screen. I also connected my phone to my dad’s truck and the same thing happened. Do you have any suggestions by chance? 🙏🏻☺️

Hey Steve,
You're amazing, no doubt but still having a problem with my 2018 MB GLE350. I can get on Carplay if I'm wired USB C Data to USB A Iphone 16 Pro Max directly. However, I prefer a MagSafe holder and charger which has the USB A plug in on MagSafe. For some reason, maybe because not able for wireless connect, I cannot get CarPlay to function. Any ideas?

Hold down call button on wheel for wireless connection. Just found that info. Hope it helps someone.

VPN USAGE!!! My personal connection issue simply boiled down to one singular issue, VPN usage; when connecting iPhone to car, temporarily disable your VPN through its own app (in app), (NOT iPHONE VPN setting in SETTINGS). Once your device displays successfully on your vehicles screen, simply toggle your VPN back on (in app) and you’re good to go! I know, a pain, but it works.

I only managed to figured this out after countless hours of troubleshooting - not giving up!

I believe Apple will hopefully rectify this in a future patch, as many users are encountering these similar issues on a myriad of different vehicle models and makes.
