Every continent has marine resources that have been harvested. The trend of overfishing has caused cultures to adapt to use other marine resources. It would become difficult to tell an islander that turtle, dolphin, seal, whale or even a shark is not there to be harvested. It is in everyone's interest to learn how to promote regrowth of a species population, and to learn how new methods can lead to lessen bycatch deaths. Abandoned nets and fishing gear need to be properly tagged and retrieved when lost. We need a Citizen Science program to teach fishermen on the sea and on the shore that by not chosing responsibility for loss of gear that they are endangering marine life.😊❤❤
