You is smart. You is kind. You is important. My favorite lines of the movie. Oh how I cried over that little girl.

Hey and don't forget to mention Miss Celia Foote. A woman who didn't care for skin color and treated Minny like a friend. That woman has a heart as big as the ocean. ❤

Jessica Chastain made it her mission to fight for equal pay for her and Octavia Spencer on this movie.

We lived in deep South Alabama when I was a baby through 6 years. Our neighbors had black help & they were always sweet & kind. I asked my mom why we didn't have one & at the age of 5 my mom taught me about what she called slave wages and the importance of equality & fair wages for a fair day's work. I've carried this with me my whole life

Two 30 something girls sat down to watch this film, one white and one black. Those girls were me and my friend. We both cried. Me, because I had no idea just how terrible black people, like these ladies, were treated. It would never enter my mind to treat anyone this way. My black friend cried, because she felt people like her grandmother and mother’s voice was finally being heard, and that this film gave an understanding to their feelings and hardships. And, we both laughed and cheered when Miss Minnie served her special chocolate pie! So, I guess my point is Ms Davis should not regret making this film because it said so much to so many people, black, white, older generations, and younger generations.

I didn't need to read the book. This was my mother's life. Although when she came to California from Texas the wasn't the same Jim Crow laws, there was segregation. Restricted neighborhoods, ridiculous expectations from employers. I saw first hand what she had to go through being a maid for 3 wealthy families in Oakland. I think it lit the fire for her to return to school and become a nurse.

I hate that people tried to shame this movie & still do. I feel no shame for enjoying and loving it. There was a time this was a way of life for many POC. It was not right but it happened. There are many stories. This is a beautiful way of showing people what struggle meant for for too many, for too long. It was done very well too. Thank you all.

Celia Foote, played by Jessica Chastain, is one of my favourite characters. The beauty and support that she gives Minny, and the way that Minny helps Celia, is so unexpected and delightful!

The definition of “Compassion”:
“To suffer with”.
These words went through me.
Imagine a World of Compassion.

Can you imagine what our children would be like if the people that are suppose to love them told them every day, you are smart, you are kind, you are important?

My grandma would tell me stories about her days as a house maid in these times. She taught me how to build an emotional shield to verbal racism by knowing who I am. I really enjoyed this movie too

One of those movies that you never think of watching like Shawshank Redemption, and when you finally do, you're like "why didn't I watch this before?".

I cleaned house for a Jewish family and babysat their 7 year old son. One day the little boy's mom came home when we were playing a game and asked her son who he loved more, me or her. He looked at both of us and, not wanting to hurt either of our feelings, said, " I love you both." She fired me.

This is a seriously an awesome, uplifting movie and I loved every nanosecond of it. I'd hand an award to every person in it if I could.

“White Savior”? Ok, I’m white, but I say, “ The one who HAS the voice and ability to use it, needs to stand up and use it!!! Regardless of color, creed or circumstance.”

My kids watched this when they were very young. I’ll never forget them saying it was the best movie they had seen.
