I love how real this scene feels. Like when you first take a girl out there's not gonna be nonstop talking, there will be pauses where you or the other person don't know what to say.

In my opinion, One thing people missed out was that when Andrew asks her what school shes goes to, he then gets very personal and judgemental all of sudden. And then when she asks what school he goes to he responds 'best music school in the country' indicates he's better than her. That seems to break the connection they had going for a moment. Then all of sudden they both find something they can relate which is feeling lonely in college and that rebuilds the tension again.

I kinda understand Andrew. There are times when u feel like u wanna be great and then there are other times when you just wanna chill.

bro i’m telling yall this is how my first date felt like. awkward conversations but simple. every two minutes the topic changes and there’s a silence in between for a few seconds until someone else starts another topic. whoever wrote this scene is %100 a professional.

This is pretty beautiful, because it's quite true that people connect in this way: by being awkward and vulnerable together. You don't often see that depicted because people are ashamed of their awkwardness and vulnerability, but it's absolutely universal. One of the great things about this scene in the context of the film is that she's willing and confident enough to be totally vulnerable, while he isn't. He's only vulnerable following her lead, and that gives you a great insight in to his character and psychology, and the future problems their relationship faces. Great scene. Great writing. Great acting

This scene actually had pretty good good cinematography. When they were getting to know each other, the camera got closer to symbolize them getting closer personally. When they were talking about which college they go to, the camera is far away to symbolize distance.

What i love about this scene is that the whole movie is about the solitary pursuit for greatness and the fulfillment you get from it, but this scene reveals a very different alternative in life- where two people can bond and find comfort in how not great they are.
