The scene is him giving his life away you know. That’s why his dad was looking sad when he saw him. Fun fact throughout the movie you can see him dress like fletcher and even talk like him speaking to the others just as if fletcher was speaking to his students

Honestly one of my favorite films ever made. It beautifully captures the caveats in chasing one’s dreams and how passion can quickly dissolve into bitter competition. It wasn’t a movie about jazz, it was a movie about the human spirit.
