The last scene where he drums was like a divine moment.

So he basically lived whiplash before playing in it

This is nuts. Like this was some of the best drumwork I've ever heard and it was done by an actor

im so glad they leaned into having the actor actually play. You can't make this story without that Imo.

The hard work paid off. The film is a masterpiece and Teller and Simmon's performance is immortal.

So much respect for all the actors and actresses who have to grind out new skills in such little time to play their roles 👍

I wish I could tell Miles Teller that he is a part of my number one favorite piece of art. Movie/music in one as a category in and of itself of the special category that it is. It's impeccable.

Masterpiece of a movie. One of my favorites of all time along with Raging Bull, Pulp Fiction, and GoodFellas

My sister is a professional bass trombone player and I thankfully got to watch this movie with her. She played all through college at a prestigious university and still does tons of gigs and performances. She was floored by how accurate this movie was. She recalled one of her first days with a band when one kid came in 30 seconds late and the director just said “get the f*** out” and they never saw him again. It’s not always that way but sometimes it’s just horribly cutthroat

Depending how long you stop, it can be a truly brutal process to relearn. Because you never forget what you could do before and you also keep your limb independence for the most part but start from scratch as far as your timing, technique, and basic ability to flow

I stopped for 8 years and it was unbelievably bad for a long time. Its been just over 3 years for me and im only now almost to where i was and my first 2 years i was not even close

The way he's holding the sticks is oldskool. The first teacher I had tried to teach me to hold them that way, he was 70. It's much easier to hold them normally

I’ll never understood how Miles Teller never got praised for his performance in this movie

Whiplash is a masterpiece. By far my favorite from Damien Chazelle.
