Removing and replacing pedals is an important bike maintenance skill to learn. A nice set of quality pedals is often one of the first upgrades people make to a bike, it can be handy if you are traveling with a bike, as you will need to remove and reinstall the pedals or so you can experiment with fitting the two different pedal styles, clipped in (known as Clipless) or flat pedals..

When installing pedals or bottom brackets I deliberately start by screwing backwards until I hear/feel the threads skip. Then I start to tighten it. This reduces the risk of misaligning the threads.

Yep, my pedals are stuck in my cranks 🤦🏾‍♂️ gotta hit the gym for a week and try to remove it 😅

Handy way to loosen a really tight pedal....

Sit on the bike.
Place a block under the other crank at the back (back pedal onto the block.)
reach down with the tool on the tight pedal, tool out the the front...
Pull up keeping your weight on the seat.

This will also work if the 'other' pedal has already been removed (as long as the crank can come down on the block).

Best block size... just slightly lower than the bottom bracket bearing. (while your sitting on it to account for suspension sag...)

I damaged the thread on cranks a year ago as I tightened with a tool rather than getting things started by hand and then finishing with a tool. Luckily a local shot drilled the threads out. Fitted an insert. Repair was like £10.

Thank you for the video, it was very informative and it helped me figure out how to remove my pedals. BTW, the terminology rotate towards the front of the bike is ambiguous and without the video I would not have know what you meant. In the future consider using clockwise and counterclockwise, the standard way to define the direction of rotating a tool.
