I love Chappers and Capt Lee (and the whole Anderton's crew!), but I've gotta get on my soapbox for a minute:

***Stepping up***
I've been watching Anderton's vids since the beginning, and in all those years every time a fender offset comes up (a small handful of times) it goes something like: "I've never been a fan of these. Let me take the next 60 seconds to demonstrate how little I know about this guitar before moving on."
1. The design of the trem system is specifically so it does not go out of tune and maintains consistent intonation through the sweep. JM's are notoriously GOOD at staying in tune.
2. (My number one pet peeve) JM pups are NOT P90s. They're quite the opposite. Much more akin to (and arguably sweeter sounding than) a normal strat single coil in fact.
3. The rhythm circuit is not some complicated secret. The circuit engages the neck pickup with a higher capacitor value to give an easily accessible darker tone option. You can like it or dislike it, but there's no excuse for not knowing its basic function and purpose if you're trying to sell the guitar.
4. I'm hoping for the day we can move on from the "just to look cool" idea. I can't deny offsets have had a fair share of pop culture fad periods, but it's created this myth that players sacrifice sound quality or playability to "look cool". In reality, many players have adopted guitars like the JM because they prefer the feel and tone over a strat, tele, or LP. So yeah, we do like them because they're unique, but they're unique because we think they're better (in terms of personal tastes).
***Stepping down***

Great vid guys! Keep em coming! How bout an offset blindfold challenge? Everyone asks for a hard one and I think that'll do, as I'd imagine neither of you are too familiar.

Lee playing that Mustang at the end might have been the best I've heard from him, that was a match made in heaven

Does the right angle cable into strat bother anyone else? Just me?

Make a video comparing the Squier Classic Vibe Stratocasters 50s, 60s and 70s.

Who here agrees with this? Considering the first Fenders were mass produced aimed at the everyday/all players, that’s kinda what Squier do now. Squiers (in a way) are like what Fender guitars were to the masses in the 50s and 60s - just maybe not as original in design. I’m a semi-pro player in a function band (it’s for a hobby rather than the money), I own a PRS, Gibson, Japanese Gretsch 6120 and hands down my (well set up) vintage modified Squier Tele is the best playing Guitar I have, I choose it as number 1 for every gig I play! Bravo..

Lee: if you want to compare the rhythm circuit of the jazzmaster, you need to be on neck pickup on the 3-way. Also the vintage modified jazzmaster did have the rhythm circuit.

After watching Rabea and Matt use various classic vibes I've decided the 70's is my next guitfiddle, love these series of videos. Thanks for the overview.

I just picked up the natural finish strat at guitar center today, used. for $250. It's in absolutely beautiful shape and even has some upgraded locking tuners. I stopped in last minute right before they were closing. So glad I went in

I play a Jazzmaster to sound different. The trem is also smoother, and when setup it never goes out of tune.

Lee hates offset guitars. But if JM played one he'd be on it

Lee's face at the end when the Mustang stayed in tune is priceless

Robs best tone and playing for a while... That modulation and delay at the beginning is gorgeous

Thanks for the video. For some reason, the Mustang stuck out to me as a guitar for those that always wanted a Mustang, but weren't quite sure. It has unique sound and feel with its single coil pickups and short scale length.

Man I'm in love with squirt brand. They are cheap and they are no longer a beginners instrument. The quality has gone really up in the last year's. I own a couple of fenders but I'm always playing my squires.

24:40. It didn’t go out of tune because it’s the best vibrato design. Never understood why anyone would think the strat style was even as good, let alone better.

LOVE the opening jam. All Pink Floydy and Petey at once. Pete's rubbing off on everybody. The other night I even got a comment from my wife that I played something like Pete. I feel like I've officially made it!!

The best thing about the classic vibe, are the pickups. They sound great. Really a vintage sounding pickup.

Really cool opening jam. Chappers and Lee showing their range.

The Captain without even trying sounds like a 90’s indie rock icon. Such is the power of the mighty Jazzmaster.
