some other programs could block the preview for instance wps office. If you don't set wps as default program it will block other programs to preview the files (pdf jpg srt etc) (w10)

My preview pane works. However, I clearly remember that I used to be able to increase the width of the pane and the picture would enlarge. That no longer happens. Was the feature disabled?

Hi, WindowsChimp, I have this issue only with .txt files, when I select a txt file shown at the green loading bar, and then an error report catastrophic failure (0x8000ffff (e_unexpected)) WINDOWS 11, I did what you recommended but the problem is not fixed, What can I do? Thanks

My preview works. My issue is that the play buttons to play videos in the preview pane does not work and it doesn't seem like there is anything anywhere on the web that tels how to fix this. I checked the registry as some people mentioned, and that is set as recommended. If you could find out how to fix this it would be very useful! Also, although he preview display shows most files, it does not display edited video files from iPhone.

After trying all these suggestions I still can't get a preview of image files or PDFs.
As I saw suggested elsewhere, I created another administrator account on my PC, and the preview pane works in that account... but I don't know what this proves.
I have a workaround, which is to select the Details Pane rather than the Preview Pane (under the View tab), but it seems to be a bit slower to display the preview.

I have the weirdest computer, it does the opposite to the solutions I try - PDF on and off not working - this example show preview handlers i turn it off and now i can see PDF's- another time i clicked on Show thumbnails and i could not see excel in the preview pane but i could view pdfs

Very good job, but it didn't solve the problem. The problem started with foxit editor and then excel and now word. I try to preview a word document and then WE gets stuck.

Mine shows everything but pdfs. Windows 11 made my life a chaos, had another issue (not a single folder would open unless clicked on open in a new tab option) which took me 3 weeks to fix. And now this.

Sorry but not helpful at all. We have already tried all of this. FYI command prompt is now called TERMINAL in Windows 11. Very confusing.

I restarted Windows in Task manager and that did the job. Windows is garbage.
