serving entitled influencers a slice of humble pie - REACTION

As a business owner, it's important to stand up to entitled influencers. It's not fair to force your business on people who don't want it, and it's not fair to take advantage of small businesses. In this video, I'm sharing my thoughts on the article and what business owners should do to defend themselves against entitled influencers.

Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I make a joke or two. I love poking fun at social media, weddings, entitled people, tiktok and OF COURSE petty people. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

I had an "influencer" who wanted to use my artwork for her "branding" and pay me in EXPOSURES LOL. I'm NOT an artist who is " just starting out"...I have paintings in several galleries, my art has been used by over 2 dozen recording artists for their CD/Record covers/posters etc. and I even have pieces in Museums. So when I declined the "influencer" USED MY WORK ANYWAY....When my agent sent her a legal notice stating copyright law " Copyright infringement can carry criminal penalties including imprisonment for a period of up to 5 years, fines of up to $250, 000.00, or both per violation." She took down the material. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS .

It’s always funny when the people trying to get something for free call the other person “stingy” 😂

I love the clapback from the artist that said “If I needed the promo, how did you know I exist” 👏

I am a professional tattooist with almost a decade of experience and I HATE ‘when I get those influencer types in my dms’ I literally have a copy and paste message for them. Like it costs me to do the work, it costs me in electric and heating and rent for my property to work from, my licence and insurance that’s before I even count the price of supplies like needles and ink and cling film and kitchen roll etc, but people will still ask me to do it for ‘exposure’ like I have almost 10YEARS experience I do not need exposure. Social media isn’t essential to my survival because word of mouth actually brings me enough work to live off.

I can honestly say I have never been “influenced” to use a certain electrician, photographer or any service person from TikTok, Insta etc etc. the followers of influencers are from all over the world. How am I, in Aus, going to hire the photographer that did some influencers work for free that’s based in (let’s just say) the USA? Some influencers are so entitled. It’s ok to ask, but when someone politely declines, then leave it at that. Don’t chuck a 2yr tanty and threaten to expose them! Lordy Lou.
Thanks for laughs as always Charlotte. Have a happy day 😊

I made friends with a artist on Instagram, and she did a beautiful picture for me. FOR FREE!!!! I begged her to take money, she refused. So I signed up to her patreon instead. I hated taking it for free, but she said it's just a hobby and loves to do it. Another artist friend does my artwork for my fanfictions. And her work is incredible!!! I can't imagine asking it for free... 😱😱😱😱😱

For my very small wedding last year, I was able to get a discount on my wedding photos. I didn't ask for one. I did go through thier portfolio and I genuinely loved thier work. I was honest about what I wanted and was honest about willing to pay for the work. Because I did my research, the size of the wedding, and did not try to haggle, I was offered the price of a graduation shoot. It was half the price of a wedding shoot. I was given not only beautiful pictures, but also got a video of the ceremony which I never insisted I wanted. I have had no issues referring others to the photographer. I also had no issue tagging the photographer either. I even made it clear I was willing to pay for thier time if they wanted to attend the rehearsal so they could plan thier set up and find out what the priest would allow in form of filming locations. My offer to pay for that extra hour was declined. The moral is: Don't be entitled. Working professionals have bills too. If you cannot afford it, then don't ask and prevent them from taking a paying job.

Years ago I owned an Etsy shop that sold Jewelry. A Youtuber got a hold of me and wanted me to send her a free ring and she would review it in her videos. As my shop was new I foolishly I sent her the free ring, and a few weeks later she sent me a link to the video. The video was just her trying on different rings, with no mention or link to the shop and none of the rings were even mine. The next person who tried to get me to send them something free got told to piss off...

Wait a second. "Valuing your work at $4000"
Did that influencer basically says she should CHARGE a photographer to WORK for HER? 😳

"If a successful influencer is asking you to do stuff for free especially when it is things that could be business expenses then they are not as successful as they claim to be" - Apt advice from Charlotte . Also, i really don't get why plumbers and electricians need exposure ? Everybody will have a plumber on speed dial including Charlotte 😁 .

The best retort I've ever heard was, "People die from exposure".

I like the idea of offering a legally binding contract wherein the influencer pays, but if they get such and such amount of people to use their code, you'll refund them.
I think it's an awesome way to say no without looking passive aggressive.

Fun fact: the first audio clip is the voice of an entitled woman who is the sister of the creator of Rick & Morty! Justin Roiland sister

The artist one really hit home, I'm a freelance illustrator and have had many "work for exposure" opportunities..lol I finally got to the point where I would reply with, let me check with my landlord to see if he would care that I paid for rent in "exposure" this month..lol

As the wife of a plumber, I have to defend the trade. Plumbers do SO MUCH MORE than unplug toilets. My husband actually refuses to unplug toilets. A GOOD plumber never has to unplug toilets. He loves to do remodels/new buildings as it's a puzzle with everything. He actually just did a scallop farm, where he did a sanitation room. It was actually very interesting. Ok, rant over. Love you, Charlotte

Lmao that first girl is so full of herself. "Any video I'm in will obviously go viral!' Girl no, just because anyone who sleeps with you will need Anti-Virals, it's not the same thing 💅

That hits hard 🤣 when I was still doing photography I took a shoot for free with a child influencer because I wanted to branch out into children photography. All I got were lots of messages from other child influencers who wanted to work with me. For free 👌

With the photogs, tell the influencer they pay full price, but you give them a booking code. If they get a certain number of people using the booking code the influencer can get either a full refund or a free shoot.
