Getting started with ESP-01 and WLED

I have posted several videos using ESP-01 (ESP8266) and WLED without really covering getting started with this MCU and ws2812b LED strip with WLED.

In this video, I cover programming the ESP01 with a jig and the WLED firmware. I use a WS2812B "shield" for my projects so it is super easy to get up and running.

You did not mention that the programming jig need a button and you need to press it while plugging it in to flash ESP1

I bought a cheap mood light from Poundstretcher (and yes it was cheap and nasty but all I really wanted was the enclosure) and ripped out its innards and replaced them with this system and a 12 segment neopixel ring. Now it actually deserves to be called a mood light. 😁

good video man. that's a Grove connector I think because they were thr ones who started using that for power. I'm going to make my own breakout board for the esp I think. the wife wants custom lighting for our new kitchen and I want a multi output psu to go with my new siglent scope so I'm going to use an esp32 with a remote for the main controller then use the esp01 modules as simple wireless daisy chains. I'm not sure if I'm gonna use wled or just code my own custom simplistic set of effects because a career woman can't be having the bouncing ball effect going off while she shows the new kitchen off lol

I purchase an esp-01 recently but it isn't responding to AT commands or my project codes...Tried using several flashing tools to update it but not working. Could you help please

If I use LED strips that are not RGB, aka 1 color only. Can I use this program?

Every time i disconnect the power supply the settings are gone. Do you know Why?

I am using an ESP-01 with WLED v0.13.0-b6. Anyone have the same problem with random restarts? Sometimes several times in an hour, sometimes not once the entire evening. After restart the device fallback to preset 1 and works fine again. (till the next random restart)

i have flashed the wled software over the website. when i power it on i can't find a wlan ap. do you know why?
