Good job man. Following your tutorial I have uploaded a sketch on the ESP8266-01 and it works properly. But I would like to know how to reset the module and re-programming with another sketch the module. I have found something on internet but it doesn't satisfies me completley. I use an FTDI to upload the sketches and I would like to use the same FTDI to reset the ESp8266-01.Thanks.

I tried uploading the Blink program, but it did not work at first. It looks like in the 2 years since this video has been uploaded, the example sketch in the Arduino software has been changed. For me, I was confused, that my LED did not blink at all (it was glowing constantly). Looking at the code, I saw, that the Blink-code now makes the little LED on the ESP8266 blink. And that worked just fine.

The LED needs a current-limit-resistor of 150 Ohm. Otherwise you are in danger von burning through the ESP8266-chip and the LED due to a too high current.

So for the serial to USB, you just shorted the GPIO0 to GND with no resistors or anything? Just a straight connection?

Interestingly, my attempt at this is doing the opposite in terms of blinking. The sketch says to pull low to turn the LED on, wait a sec, turn the LED off by going high, wait two secs. Mine is blinking on for 2 secs, off for 1. So going high is turning my LED on. Are the comments in the sketch wrong, or is it me?
