How to Clone Windows With Macrium Reflect Free - HDD to SSD Upgrade 2024 (In Depth Tutorial)

How to clone Windows 10 or 11, 8 ,7 with Macrium Reflect 7 FREE or Macrium Reflect 8 FREE to a new drive. This tutorial lets you migrate your entire system as is to a new SSD or HDD, larger or smaller, however before we do that I show you how to properly prepare your system to make a successful clone with Macrium, so this tutorial should give you all the tools to make your computer faster with a new drive. My system is so much faster now that I have installed an SSD instead of the HDD I used before. Be safe and let your old drive rest for a while before wiping it clean and using it as an empty storage drive.

Thanks for the Tutorial. After viewing many other tutorials concerning HHD to SSD Upgrading\migrating\cloning and following one other that resulted in a cloned bootable SSD failure. I came across your tutorial which not only resulted in a successful cloned bootable SSD, but a clean optimized system.

Very helpful, thank you. Bought a Sabrent rocket that comes with Acronis True Image. It was awful and would not load, used Macrium reflect and worked really well.

In case it helps people, here is what I faced: For some reason it would not let me load all partitions of my 2TB HDD into the 1TB SSD, saying there was not enough space though I liberated enough with 200GB spare. What I did was move manually partitions 1, 2 and 3 and dragged the third partition so there would be 60GB free/ unused in the drive (like the video recommends, leaving 10-20% free to extend SSD lifespan). I then dragged the 4th partition (which was only 400mb, probably Windows recovery) and it worked! It let me clone the HDD.

I then wanted to use both HDD and SSD with windows in the SSD. After it cloned, I unplugged the HDD, went into BIOS to make sure it detected the SSD and put it as boot option 1. Turned it on, made sure it worked. Turned off and plugged the HDD back in. Turned the computer on and went into BIOS again to make sure SSD was still Boot option 1. Turned it on, changed the name of the drives and that was it!

Worked Great, I installed windows on my HDD instead of my SSD and this method worked great. Instead of taking out the HDD I just switched the boot setup and reformatted my HDD

This video helped me out A LOT!! But I highly recommend using the Samsung software thou. It was extremely easier in my opinion.
