edit: 6/24/21: So it looks like some people are having a problem when going from a smaller drive to a larger drive it creates an unwanted partition, the easiest correction for this is formatting that partition in disk manager, but its not a elegant fix IMO so im looking into a more streamlined fix for this.

Had to do this a couple of months ago, bought a 970 Evo and ended up cloning my drive and using it in my second PC, it's quite convenient since my files are in two places at once

People like you is what we need more in the pc world especially right now with how the market is and YouTube pc ppl making videos on these type of things promoting cloning software that you have to pay to use, etc. So, thank you for this.
I have been thinking about getting a m.2 drive of 2 tb since i do a lot of 3d work for games, shows, and graphic design assets for businesses and right now i have two mechanical drives and its horrible for my boot up and main work files. My 2nd mechanical drive is fine, its better than the current one i use for boot and work and its being used for my gaming but my main one is not.... trustworthy. Its so noisy, is grinds a lot, and i keep backing up my files every time i work and its getting annoying simple cause of my trust issues with it lol so I think I'll make the leap to do this thanks to you straight forward video. It will put my mind and heart at ease knowing i can do this and if anything happens i can still use my other drive again i guess. Thank you again.

Thank you bro! Worked like a charm for my HD to SSD. Took more than 5 minutes for me; 1 hour and 59s to be exact. But no problems at all. You rock! Btw I used Macrium 8.

Seems not as good as aomei partition assistant, because it cannot clone my bad disk(with important data), aomei saved my disk.

Thank you so much for such a clear and concise video. I try some other video and it felt like I was taking a lecture on computer science.

Got a new M.2 today for a MUCH NEEDED upgrade from two very tiny SSDs that were not allowing me to update windows thanks to how low on space I was. Downloading the cloning tool now while the M.2 is formatting but just by the simplicity of the video and the comments I can already tell this is gonna be a breeze and works. Will def edit this comment if I have issues but so far, so good! Thank you for being upfront and honest! Too many videos take advantage of ppl looking to troubleshoot anything and suggest spam programs or ones that try to con you into a purchase for a “one time use” situation like cloning a boot drive to a new SSD. Thanks again!!

Thank You!!! I got scared that my screen turned off but PC was still running and I just hit the Windows key on the keyboard after a minute of Not turning back-on and it turned back-on to finished the process.

Really sad that only Macrium Reflect 8 is available and the free edition doesn't allow cloning boot media. It doesn't look like Macrium Reflect 7 is available anymore, so I guess it's time to search for another tool.

WORKS!! went from a 120 gb m.2 to a 2TB M.2 NVMe !! had a snag at first drive didn't want to load up got the blue screen of death tried a few of the advanced startup options but as soon as I enabled boot logging it started right up no idea why ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ BUT IT WORKS!! bout to extend the drive and that's 2 TB of NVMe baybe!! Thanks so much!!

Thank u, this was really helpful, before watching this video I was planning to clone it to an external HDD and clone it again to M.2, this way is much easier and faster.

Extra steps than are presented here are necessary if you are cloning to a drive of a different size than the source. It would have been nice to mention, too, that the target drive will be reformatted and anything on it will be lost.

So failed with Macrium reflect while cloning here, seems there is a file system error, but I succeeded with aomei partition assistant, it can even clone disk with errors, just can't believe aomei is that good to use.

Thank you for this video, and here my questions (1) Can Samsung migration tool clone a bigger HDD to a smaller SSD, (2) Can you clone the OS only, and not other files?

Thanks for the info. I picked up an Alienware R12 (AMD) for my kid and it is terribly slow to boot and load software. Once loaded, it rips, but this thing takes MINUTES to load a program. I'm hoping it is the mechanical drive I cheaped out on. I just picked up a Samsung M.2 SSD directly from Samsung yesterday (already in the mail!). I hope this works. Thanks!
