Best advice I got was to just “use them however works for me, your hands will just naturally adjust.” Was the only thing that taught me. After a few times of just using however felt comfortable, my hands adjusted, and I use them proper now.

As a Chinese person, the people I’ve met who have the best techniques with chopsticks are always white people lol
Chinese parents are always like “as long as you can pick things up, it’s fine” so don’t worry too much about holding them “properly” :)

Just a reminder that in different countries chopsticks are held different, so as long as you’re not being disrespectful, whatever way works for you is okay :) it is helpful to attempt learning if you cannot at all, though 😂
