Narcissism is a personality disorder that is not inherently harmful. A person who has NPD can be abusive, but so can anyone else. Lack of empathy is not a death sentence, empathy is just your ability to physically feel what others feel, it is separate from sympathy and compassion. People who lack empathy are still perfectly able to understand when someone else is feeling pain and are perfectly able to show care, just like anyone else. Vice versa, people who have high empathy are also capable of harm, some people with high empathy are not as capable of being helpful when someone is in pain because they're too occupied with how others' pain makes them feel. I'm personally really annoyed that "narcissist, " became the new trend for armchair diagnosing people you hate. It's harmful to people who have a disorder to be treated like they're inherently evil or annoying, and it's harmful to people who are victims of abuse to give them a category of person to project their pain onto and then insist that these people are everywhere.
I don't have NPD but I have another demonized disorder and have had people I've been close to for years suddenly treat my flaws that they previously didn't have any issue with like major inconveniences, stop putting any effort into communication, just putting the blame on me if any issues came up regardless of whose actions caused the issue, and completely dismissing my efforts when I accepted the unfair blame and adjusted accordingly, the second I felt comfortable sharing my diagnosis with them. I can't imagine how hard it is for people with NPD right now. When you make a category of person synonymous with "bad person, " it is impossible for them to be seen as anything but, no matter how hard they try.
Obligatory disclaimer that yeah just like any other disorder or even just going through a shit life event, NPD symptoms can cause someone to be a jerk. You don't have to stick by anyone who consistently makes you feel bad. But if someone doesn't manage their symptoms, it isn't cuz they've got "bad person disorder, " it's just cuz they're a jerk.

These are not official mental disorders. NPD is the closest thing to what you've mentioned, and having ASPD is not a requirement to have NPD. Also, I have NPD, myself, and I can tell you, I experience empathy. Lacking empathy is, once again, not a requirement for the diagnosis.

The distinction between psychopath and sociopath vary from source to source so this should be really taken as fact especially considering that neither are in the dsm with anti social personality disorder in their place

NPD and ASPD are different disorders, with some overlapping traits. And they, especially narcissists, do have empathy both cognitive and emotional, to varying degrees and towards different things. Don't keep spreading basic stuff you find online without doing actual research

Is she a psychologist? Why do people on social media pretend they know and think they can "help" without proper certification or educational experience.

That definition of a psychopath doesn't sound like it would also fit a narcissist

We’re ignoring the DSM V with this one

Something important to remember is that while people with these personality disorders CAN be abusive, it does not mean that all of the people who have them ARE abusive. We should also remember that the people with these disorders didn’t make the choice to have them, most of it stems from the fact that they have been abused as kids

**relates to psycopath’s end description**

As someone currently studying Psychology, we learn that a main trait of Psychopathy/ASD is a lack of empathy. It was found that many psychopaths could actually feel rationalized empathy when asked to, it simply did not come naturally to them. While this lack of empathy can very much lead to cruel or criminal behaviour, it's theorised that a key factor is actually your childhood experience - those with APD that had happy childhoods tended to not have a history of criminal/deviant behaviour, compared to those that had a history of childhood abuse, for example.

Just dropping this here for some information, so I do apologise if it isn't academically up-to-date.
