I think this range anxiety is overplayed. At least if you can charge at home, you'll do that and always have a nearly full battery, for longer trips you have the superchargers and destination chargers.
But of course, if you absolutely want to reach you destination with whatever your state of charge is, you might not get there. But the same goes for diesel and petrol. At some point you have to fill up.

I detect a fair amount of belittling Tesla and their efforts across the media generally. I have monitored the trucking world a little since the event and I get the feeling it is sending shockwaves through the companies that make trucks. So a lot of people feel uneasy because they are not prepared or are in some denial. The solution is of course to lead instead of being led. But my prediction is that most of these organizations will not be innovators in this, despite the fact that Tesla would probably even help them if they changed their spirit and attitude. VW, Toyota and GM don't give a damn about EVs and are just doing publicity. Others like Nissan and Renault are clearly on a different track. So I can definitely see some of these being caught out and wrongfooted financially when the floodgates open for EVs: they will have all this infrastructure and inventory dedicated to combustion engines at a time when everyone will demand electric vehicles.
