"Ring around the rosey and a pocketful of spears!..." lololol... I love her one-liners

When I saw this as a child sixty years ago I was really scared of the witch. But as an adult I concluded Margaret Hamilton is the greatest villian in movie history and what made the Wizard of Oz timeless and great.

"Well, ring around the rosy and pocket full of spears, thought you be pretty foxy didn't ya."...love that line.

Margaret Hamilton as the witch should have won an Oscar for her performance.

Maggie gave an awesome performance. Hard to believe this film came out the same year WWII began

Poor Judy, having to run and dance around while wearing a iron clad corset, a wig, and high heeled shoes. Imagine how uncomfortable she was.

Margaret Hamilton really played the witch perfectly

00:38- The castle chase was my favorite part of this film for years: The Stothart music, the candles on the chandelier, the shot of them running up the stairs,  the battlements- all superb. Even though the music was first used in "Marie Antoinette" a year earlier (the revolt of the peasants), it is still magnificent. And when the witch melts, notice how all the guards lower their spears at the same time, signifying her end. Amazing that the entire sequence is not even 3 minutes long.

God I love the way Margaret Hamilton screams
“YOU CURSED BRAT LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE!”

“Aaaahhhh! You cursed brat! Look what you’ve done! I’m melting! Melting! Oh, what a world! What a world! Who would thought such a girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness! Aah, look out! Look out! I’m going!

My mom has seen The Wizard of Oz when she was a little girl, as did my dad and my grandparents. Anyway, my mom can do a great impression of the Wicked Witch of the West, particularly when she says "I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!" and "I'm melting, melting!"

This is the moment we know the Scarecrow really does have a Brain before he finds out from The Wizard.

As a fan of Oz for a couple of years, I recreated the melting scene all the time.

When she said "Oh, what a world! What a world!", I used to think she said "Oh, my world! My world!" and when she said "Oh, look out! Look out! I'm going!", I used to think she said "Oh, the bell! The bell! My voice!"
