I always loved the moral of the story in this and that's when you think you lack something, you have that something in spades. The Scarecrow, who didn't have a brain, was the cleverest. The Tin Man, with no heart, was the most sentimental. And the Lion who was a coward was the bravest.

Man, despite all the drama that went down while filming: Asbestos as snow, lead in the Tin Man's makeup, the dehydration the lion's coat caused, the severe rashes the scarecrow costume gave Ray Bolger, and the constant abuse Judy Garland received, they were al professional actors and committed to producing this gem of a movie we have today. RIP to all of these great actors!!

One thing I’ve always loved about this movie is the set design. It strikes the perfect balance between a stage set and realism. It puts the whole film in a kind of dreamworld, the artifice of a stage set but expanded to three dimensions. I’ve often wondered why more filmmakers haven’t used the technique.
