Yes my mother always use cotton cloth during pads, and i m using only pads once she insisted to used me cotton cloth and i tried cotton cloth during the time i satyed at home.and trust me guys its much more comfortable then pads..ita about 4-5 months i satarted using cotton cloth whenevr i stayded at home during periods.

I would rather go for menstrual cup they are very nice please you should encourage for this period cups. Cloth pads are not gives very much facility and the most important problem is when it's a rainy day then how do you manage it to dry out properly and insure it's hygiene also this is one of those reasons why every woman in India get warned to stop using clothes and switched too disposable cotton sanitary pads so it's really shows hypocrisy
