HOW TO SELL YOURSELF IN AN INTERVIEW (7 TIPS!)
HOW TO SELL YOURSELF IN AN INTERVIEW TIP #1
Whether it’s a video interview or a face-to-face interview, wear a clean and smart outfit!
- What you wear for your interview says a lot about you as a person.
- If you wear a smart outfit, it shows you have high standards, and it shows that you care!
HOW TO SELL YOURSELF IN AN INTERVIEW TIP #2
Have a positive answer ready for the first interview question… Tell Me About Yourself?
“Thank you for inviting me to be interviewed for this position. Over the years, I have built up lots of life skills and experiences that are a match for the job description. I understand the importance of great teamwork, I enjoy working under pressure and I am able to deliver excellent customer service to ensure your customers come back to the busines time and time again in the future.
In previous roles, I had a reputation for being someone who could be relied upon to carry out challenging tasks under pressure and my manager often praised me for my determination and resilience in challenging situations. For example, I often dealt with customer issues or complaints successfully and my manager could leave me alone to get on with the job knowing it would be done to the right standard.
I am the type of person who will be a positive role model for your business. If you hire me, I will work with you to ensure the business grows and I will always act with high levels of honesty, integrity and professionalism.”
HOW TO SELL YOURSELF IN AN INTERVIEW TIP #3
Research the company you applying to join!
Most candidates do little or NO research, and they fail the interview!
HOW TO RESEARCH A COMPANY FOR AN INTERVIEW…
1. Products and services.
2. Company values and mission.
3. News stories or future plans.
HOW TO SELL YOURSELF IN AN INTERVIEW TIP #4
Ask smart questions at the end of the interview!
Q1. What would you need me to concentrate in the first 30 days of starting?
Q2. What’s the culture like within the organization?
Q3. Has anything frustrated you about previous employees who have held this position?
HOW TO SELL YOURSELF IN AN INTERVIEW TIP #5
Sell yourself positively and confidently when they say to you…
“I believe you should hire me for three reasons. The first reason is, I am a fast leaner, and I will get up and running in the role quickly, which means you will see a positive return on your investment by hiring me. The second reason is, I am a loyal and trustworthy person who will always act as a positive role model for your business. I will always strive to get customers to return to the business time and time again in the future. Finally, you should hire me because I am looking for long-term employment with the same company. This means you will have a high-performing employee long into the future who will grow and develop with your business.”
