Making your first feature documentary is hard, and it's a process that you rarely get a close look at. This is why I decided to start documenting my own struggle as a filmmaker.

About three years ago I started working on my debut feature doc called The Pearl Of Africa. Making it seems to be impossible, which I why I decided to create a Vlog about my struggle to make the film.

Damn I like your style, it's very informative and not just over active shoutspeaking. I know most people enjoy fast pace, funny, light and over active presenters, but it's great to have people like you for us who are more about content and relaxed way of presenting that content.

hey man, I would love to see what you could do with cheaper cameras, maybe a cellphone, or a entry level dslr

This is the the most honest and useful perspective I've heard on this topic on all of YouTube. You have been VERY helpful and inspiring in this last year. Thank you for sharing!

Every time I watch one of your videos I get the feeling that their is a lot of knowledge and talent hiding in the background and I get the impression you have a lot to offer that you have not yet fully communicated. It would great if you would show more detailed examples of what you are talking about - like using sheers to diffuse light, etc. This would make your videos more impactful and memorable. Thanks for your work. I look forward to more videos in the future. Cheers.

I do just reduce the saturation and contrast, at times when I don't have the time to Color correct

Love it! :)
In the end, everybody has to exercise a lot with the equipment they have so they can achieve the best.
And I am sure, everybody can learn their own skills by combining different moves and their style.

My personal meaning is that the manual mode doesnt do that much for people who just started. they should go find out about the shutterspeed mode and appeture. Then afterwards they can experiment with manual.

Glad to see you not even mention the 24 fps non-sense about being important to the cinematic look. That element doesn't fit into the top 100 ways to make a film more cinematic.
