I think you nailed the top 4, but perhaps a tip in post: use a bit of compression in dialogue and if still need to separate dialogue from ambient & effects, make sure they aren't sharing all the same frequencies so much, give them a little different EQ for further separation

That first tip really helped! I have access to a sound effects library but I always felt like it was unprofessional or like I was cheating when I used it & as if I wasn’t a professional filmmaker. That helped a lot!

The best tip is to convince production to make the film in locations where undesired noises can be controlled.

question: when using sunlight (which changes) ...do you manually set the aperture and shutter or go on auto ask b/c the sun is changing, and hence if you went manual, you would have to constantly adjust
