When we first saw the Pyke nterprise, i remember thinking YES! .awesome. that hair, that underplaying, those facial expressions of the wtf? And 'you must be joking' face.

Yes! I'm glad your reviewing Strange New Worlds! Me personally Strange New Worlds is the first Star Trek thing I have liked since Voyager. I am just happy to finally being able to enjoy Star Trek again after a world of misses. It's probably the best first season of a Star Trek show as well and I feel that it's only going to get better now that Kirk is coming in the second season in a bigger role. Also Pike is a great captain in my opinion.

The thing about Paul Wesley’s Kirk is that he was from an alternate (darker) timeline so his experiences as a character were different. He’s coming back for season 2 so hopefully he’ll have more of the Kirk charm that Shatner and Pine had.

Absolutely love Strange New Worlds! Mount as Pike is so good as is the rest of the cast. Love the independent episodes and the fact that they are focusing on certain things through the season. This feels like Star Trek through and through!

So I’m in my 20s and married a Trekkie, and basically my only exposure to the franchise was the JJ Abrams reboot films, so this is my first earnest exposure to “actual” Star Trek, and I gotta say, I’m a fan. I know only little bits of the TOS and TNG (my older brother was a fan and I would occasionally watch with him when I was really little), and from what I’ve seen, this is really captures a lot of that episodic nature. Pretty much all of the complaints you made don’t apply to me because I don’t have any kind of emotional connection to the other series. So like, including Spock’s personal life? That fit in well enough for me, so it doesn’t bother me. Personally, there was nothing for me to hate here. It had the feel of the sort of 60’s sci-fi Trek with special and practical effects of the modern day. I can see why a lifelong fan like you might have a few nitpicks, but to a newcomer it’s perfectly adequate.

I havent had this much fun with Star Trek in 22 years. It is episodic whilst carrying over character development in a serialized fashion which was done perfectly. It is also the funniest Trek I have seen in a long time!

I became a fan of Star Trek during the Pandemic. I watched everything in release order. DS9 is my favorite. I think SNW is getting us back into what Star Trek was. I will say, though, I do enjoy Lower Decks.

I’d love to see you do a ranking of all the Star Trek shows. If that would take too much time you could do all the seasons of the new era Star Trek show since they’re more fresh in your mind

I'm born in 2000s. I don't know what is Star Trek except that it's something like Star Wars and it used to be like Marvel vs DC among Star Wars & Star Trek fans.
Can you make some watchlist or watch guide for people who are dont know anything about Star Trek and want to get into it?

Well obviously some do like Discovery if they've kept it around so long. But I am glad they're doing a more traditional show now and do think they should have done so sooner.

I haven't seen Discovery. Picard has been meh to bleh at times. I haven't seen Prodigy yet. Love Lower Decks after a bit of a rocky first couple episodes.

And SNW has been great. Probably the best first season of Trek ever. (I have not seen most of TOS nor do I really want to)

I was on the fence about Star Trek strange new worlds. So I thought I'd see what you thought! Picard really didn't pan out for me. I had high hopes, though! Really, really. So before I started the strange new worlds series I thought I'd get some reviews. Before I s*** can my Paramount subscription. So, thank you! I'll keep watching! Subscribed!

Gotta say I ended up baling from STD and PIcard, never to return again but I really enjoyed SNW season 1. The crew was engaging, the set design and FX outstanding, and the writing, while not perfect was pretty damn good for a first season of Star Trek.

I agree that it's the best Star Trek since DS9. I liked Voyager and Enterprise, but there is something about Strange New Worlds i just love. It's easily the best FIRST SEASON of a Trek show since TOS. Lets face it, first seasons of any Trek show from TNG onwards are typically pretty poor. TNG's first season is so bad, DS9 is better, but took some massive missteps. Voyager same again. Enterprise hadn't found it's voice yet either. Strange New Worlds feels like it knows what it wants to be, and it just going for it. And the cast's comments at a recent comic con suggest that now they've proven themselves, they are gonna go crazy in season two. I hope it pays off. Because most people's main criticism of season one is that it feels like a greatest hits of Trek-Tropes. The fact that they are looking to do something crazy and new in season two excites me.

As for what you said about the relationship drama, it didn't bother me in the slightest, i thought they struck a nice balance. Though i do agree it leans on it every so slightly too much. But it was barely an issue imo. I also didn't like the tie-to-Khan tbh, BUT i like the character enough that it didn't bother me that much. She's just an interesting character. I get that they wanted to talk about genetic-alteration stuff, but for me it would have been fine if she was a descendant of one of Khan's buddies from Space Seed. Or don't tie it to Space Seed at all and just have her ancestor be someone jailed for that stuff. Just didn't have to be Khan.

Omg your eyes are such a beautiful blue, I’m jealous! 🤩 Anyway, I think they can make Spock improve on his witty sarcasm the more he hangs out with humans.

Enterprise grew on me over time. Like you I watched the first episode, and went "That song? What is wrong with it?" and got annoyed by their instantly having all of the technology of the original series (which they didn't really, so why put transporters in the first episode?), but it got better, and I liked it. It's not a great show, but it's okay.

Aside from my generally feeling burned by all the new Trek, putting in so many of the original series characters in this show feels like they're saying, "Remember this guy, he's cool, you like him, please like our show." I'm always wary when a show feels they need to go that extreme so soon (Yes, TNG, DS9, and Voyager all did some stunt casting, but it wasn't all in the first season but over 7 years, 7 years and you got 3 TOS characters in TNG, and an episode for both DS9 and Voyager to celebrate Trek's 30th anniversary).

Watch it during our trip?

Say what you want about star trek enterprise but those vulkan DD's are undeniable.
