Film Study: Can Daniel Jones be the Future for the Giants?
Daniel Jones wrapped up his second year in the NFL with the New York Giants. Overall, it has been up and down for the young quarterback setting records for turnover margins. At the end of the day, Daniel Jones is by no means a perfect QB but he is developing in the right direction for New York.

This was by far the most fair and balanced DJ breakdown I've seen, and thank you for pointing out how he throws incredibly well into tight windows (a necessity with his WR corps), most people won't give him credit for that. As you said he needs to improve in many areas, but what I like is that he really seems like the kind of guy who will acknowledge his shortcomings and work on them from morning til night.

I have a feeling that he’s going to take a josh Allen type of jump next season

Great breakdown. What do you think his potential is?

Great breakdown. I think Jones is a top QB in the making. I love what I see from this guy. He's tough accurate, doesn't panic. I believe he was the top rated QB on the deep ball last year but I do remember some under thrown balls that his receiver was able to come back and get. He's going to be fine. Especially if the O line does their job.

Teams had so little respect for his surrounding cast. Baltimore ran cover 0 on 3rd and long. Keep building the line and give him a legit weapon outside to go along with Barkley and we can finally open up the offense

Yes, he is trending in the right way. He needs to go into those underrated games with a can-win, must-win attitude. He has only won 2 of those games against winning teams in two seasons.. He has a 50% long ball pass rate and the fastest QB in the league on the ground, so he has skills. I believe he is going to be an excellent QB in year three. He could net 11 wins with the weapons around him and the 9th ranked defense in the league.

At 4:04 your criticism here is unwarranted in my opinion. In my eyes it looks like the WR stumbles very briefly and comes out of the break slow. Could the ball have been placed 1 foot further? Sure, but the ball could have been caught if the route didn't have that stumble/pause. He put it in a pretty safe spot where the WR could come back to the ball and the CB would have been out leveraged and would have been impossible to intercept it. Watch the WR very carefully and you'll see what I mean.

Pff has him rated as the best deep ball thrower in the NFL

On the pass to Slayton vs Slay he was anticipating getting hit while releasing so he couldn't step into the throw. plus they only needed a completion to win the game. No excuse just what I saw. And he is the future

Is it me or does Jason garrets offense revolve around Evan engram or TE in general.. although I'm not sure that works when ours if I'm not mistaken was one of the leader if not number 1 in starting TE drops 🙁i think at least 6 int were popped up by engram alone.

The play with the under thrown deep ball, his left guard was standing on his foot while he made the the throw.

the giants need a number 1 receiver for daniel jones so i think we should draft devonta smith if no one picks him up before the 11th round

Jones has the highest passer rating the NFL on balls over 20+ yards

Are we going to ignore that on the deep ball at 5:20 Jones is unable to step into his throw because he’s getting tackled and still completes it

That underthrown deep against the cowboys was probably caused because he stepped on his guards foot

PFF has Daniel Jones as one of the top deep ball passers. Your criticism of him on the deep plays you're showing as bad ball placement shows him with a defensive player in his face and one of his own linemen being pushed into him. I can see criticizing him if he had a clean pocket and made those mistakes.

He's got potential, but the giants gotta get him protection he's already missed what 6 games? It's like Andrew Luck all over again.
