Well… the lil mermaid was never exactly said that she was white or black so it’s whatever BUT Snow White is said to be white as snow! It pisses me off since snow whites story is German and I’m german

Race swap is just saying that "if you criticized it, that means you're racist" I get that a lot when I didn't like the little mermaid live adaptation😂😂
People are hiding behind the word "Racist" So nobody dares to criticize it

If they want to make a movie with a colored character rhey should have made new stories, or use stories from different cultures. Instead of remaking a movie that will do poorly and is not a good remake.

I don't mind raceswaps so long as they don't end up losing something in the act of it. Which no, not being white in a traditionally white culture isn't losing an element of setting unless you're actively trying to be historically accurate. I didn't see anyone upset Steve wasn't dropping hard Rs and upset to see women working traditionally male jobs given he as from the 1950s.

Now that said, there are some cases where you kind of need to maintain the race of that traditional material for thing to make sense. For instance if a character is a play on reversing racial stereotypes, you REALLY don't want to race swap them them back to whatever race they're emulating. Similiarly if you care about historical accuracy, that suddenly means you can't deviate massively either. The main problem is almost no one actually approaches the argument like that. When your argument boils down to 'they weren't black when drawn on paper' it falls short because it's like saying you didn't get an actor with the correct eye or hair color. Unless it's important part of the character or something surrounding the character, skin is just as fair game as any of that.

I don’t mind that the girl who casted Annabeth in the PJO show was black, my first thought was and something that still is irritating to me, is the fact that Percy’s hair is yellow-orange. In the books and graphic novels it is black.

Yeah I'm really sick and tired of this nonsense I was going to take my children to see the movie my Little mermaid when it came out and then I found out that they picked a different colored actor then the source material and I was really mad my son and daughter have never watched the live action adaptation they have watched the original and they were pretty bothered by the confusing change like how people should see it
