Really looking forward to receiving my 40mm version ☺

Bund straps aren't whack, the size is perfect for smaller wristers like myself. I would pay more for an off the shelf Swiss movement. It is a fantastic watch overall.

Hey, Pete. For your custom Explorer, it looks like you used the case from Riyi’s ebay store. Question: what movement did you use in it? The description says it takes ETA 2824 or NH35, but I’ve read elsewhere that it’s too tight for the NH35. Thanks, man.

Thanks for showing the details of the bund strap. I was wondering how they attached a bund to fixed lugs. Chicago style, you say. News to me. I am scheduled to receive a vintage wrist compass with fixed lugs, that I think would look great on a bund strap. Do you know anyone who makes these in 16mm? I think this Vario 1918 has 18mm lugs.

IMO, the size is perfect for what this watch is. But, it would be better as a hand wound with a lower profile. That would be truer to the original wristwatches from the Great War, and the immediate aftermath.

Thanks for showing this. I believe they have a larger version of this that doesn't cut off the numbers, but I went with the smaller one in brass. (Though I typically dislike those cut numbers.)

Maybe the wire lugs/case profile change the impression of this 37 mill watch? I am awaiting delivery of this model and decided against the 40 mill version due to its lug to lug length. I had the same issue with the Seagull 1963 opting for the smaller 38 mill version.

Man that captain is beautiful. Can’t wait until they are back in stock.

Nice review. It should be bigger because the original trench watches were adapted to the wrist from pocket watches

40mm would have been a better choice, 37 just looks to small it makes the dial look out of place.

Far too expensive for a watch with that movement. They are taking the piss. Bund straps are whack.
