How to blend coloured pencils for complete beginners! ✏️

The pencils I'm using are Faber Castell Polychromos:
- Helloblue Reddish (darkest colour)
- Phthalo blue
- Light Phthalo blue
- Light Cobalt Turquoise

For really smooth blending, I would recommend working on really smooth paper (I use Daler and Rowney smooth heavyweight paper) 🔥

This may look simple BUT it is the foundation of how I blend pencils on ALL of my realistic pencil drawings! 🖼

For anyone it may help, if you want to do this with two very different colors like blue and red it can help to have a color they can both meet in the middle, in the example case, purple. You gradually blend the red to the purple, then the purple to the blue or vise versa.

So the trick is to have multiple shades of the same color ?

Personally I burnish with my lightest pencil instead of white because it lightens all your colors if you do it with the white .

Okay, but it doesn't work as nice when you don't have colors that similar

That’s honestly a terrible tutorial because you can clearly see the border of each color at the end of the short
