SpaceX Big Slap to ULA CEO About "Partially assembled" Raptor 3 engine!
There's no time to wait—exciting developments are on the horizon.
Starship hardware is in the final stages of preparation, ready to overcome the last obstacles on its path to Flight 5.
Recently, Elon Musk and Gwynne Shotwell responded to ULA CEO Tory Bruno’s critical remarks about the Raptor 3 release, drawing attention across the industry.
Additionally, Rocket Lab has tested a new engine for its forthcoming reusable rocket, signaling its readiness to compete in the rapidly evolving space race.
With a wealth of intriguing updates to explore today, let’s get started.
SpaceX Big Slap to ULA CEO About "Partially assembled" Raptor 3 engine!
The countdown to the fifth integrated flight of Starship is in its final weeks, with anticipation building for the missions ahead.
SpaceX has been diligently preparing for this significant event. Recently, the company shared a tweet on X featuring images of the two critical components for the flight: S30 and B11. The accompanying message was clear: "Flight 5 Starship and Super Heavy are ready to fly, pending regulatory approval."
Following the static fire on July 26, S30 was brought back to the Production Site for thorough checks on its engine system and heat shield. After a brief stint at the Rocket Garden for additional checks, it was moved to Mega Bay 2. One notable update to S30 was the installation of a new Raptor Vacuum engine.

After the engine replacement, S30 was transferred to Massey. Initially, it seemed another static fire test was on the horizon, but SpaceX opted for a spin prime test instead, indicating confidence in the new engine's reliability. With these steps completed, S30 is fully prepared for the upcoming flight.
Regarding B11, following the static fire test on July 15, it was returned to Mega Bay. Recently, the hot-staging ring for B12 has emerged, indicating that it is ready to be assembled onto the booster.
With these preparations in place, both S30 and B11 are poised for the next phase. They are expected to proceed to the Launch Pad for Wet Dress Rehearsal, likely within the next two weeks. The subsequent steps will be expedited in preparation for a potential launch in early September.
However, everything is contingent on FAA approval. While the FAA is not investigating the recent mishap, they may be evaluating a proposal for catching the booster with the Mechazilla Arm, which could extend the timeline. We anticipate an update on the license approval soon.
In the tweet mentioned, SpaceX also noted: “Additional booster catch testing and Flight 6 vehicle testing is planned while waiting for clearance to fly.”

To be resolved, thank you.

Imagine you’re so ahead of time that your competitor thinks your engine is”“partially assembled”!

Hats off to SpaceX for this development

funny when the legacy competitors don't even have a CLUE and comment like "Partially Assembled" and so everything about their state of Mindset. THEY COULDN'T EVEN IMAGINE SUCH AN ENGINE, let alone develop ABOUT Being LEFT BEHIND

Absolutely hilarious. ULA is so stuck in dogmatic ways of doing things, they think that SpaceX's Raptor 3 is fake? lol Omg.

That old school paradigm thinking is why SpaceX is leading the space race for the entire planet

ULA has no room nor business talking about Raptor

I wake up in the morning a little more optimistic about life knowing that Raptor 3 is real. :)

That burn against Bruno with pictures and text from Elon and SpaceX CEO was FIRE.

Raptor 3 looks like something that could be a prop in a sci fi tv show.

ULA criticizing someone else's rockets is like the government telling you not to spend beyond your means

Let's go SpaceX I think Tori's comment just shows how far ahead and how far behind the two companies let's go

I don't think you can classify Tory Bruno's comment was critical in as much as he just couldn't believe what he was seeing. In that I agree, Raptor 3 is so amazing it's hard to believe it's real.

I feel all these other companies are just doing everything possible to be in the way of Space X.

Let's face it; Tory (ULA) wouldn't recognize modern rocket engines if they bit him. ULA, BO and Boeing are so 1960's in their approach. I just wish NASA had the balls to tell them all that until they decided to spend some internal R&D to come up with reusable vehicles, they weren't getting any new contracts.

The fact the CEO of a rocket manufacturer was unable to realize this was a completed engine tells exaclty how far behind ULA is behind SpaceX. NASA really needs to reevaluate who they give billions of dollars too.

Fire! Tory should learn to not judge SpaceX by ULA's limitations.

SpaceX is tte epitome of responsible technical progress. A true example of US innovation in the face of the Boeing debacle!!

Considering ULA is a competitor, I do think the have business knowing what Raptor and SpaceX are doing. Their business depends on it.

Quite impressive what the SpaceX engineers achieved with Raptor 3. Remember, the real challenge is to mass produce it.
