Did you know that bees lose their stinger after they sting you? BUT HOW AND WHY?

Well, in this video, we take a look at a bee stinger under the microscope.

You will be surprised to see the tiny microscopic structures that give a bee stinger incredible grip!

I was shocked!

Oh! I always thought the little stinger looked a bit asymmetric at the end point. Eeep it's because the two halves can saw back and forth? 😅

got so distracted by the barbs you forgot to mention the part where it then rips its abdomen out to detatch itself which ultimately kills it

I have family that raises bees and never knew their stingers could move back and forth to crawl deeper! That’s really neat!

The goosebump music goes so well with the video

If you let a bee spin after stinging, it can pull the stinger back out and escape alive and intact. Another thing to note, they can control their venom, so if you let the bee stay intact and free itself, you will very likely only get a little bit of venom or even none. Believe it or not, some bees sting on accident and don't inject venom at all in some cases.

I know a lot of people may not have the patience to let this play out, but work on that, and more bees will live. I do believe beekeepers do this too as to not kill their bees.

I'm a huge fan!!! I am 12 years old, and I was wondering if you could a video with chocolate? I have seen SO MANY fake videos, but I actually want to see what they look like under the microscope. It would be cool if you could do a lesser-quality chocolate, such as Hershy's, then do an higher-quality chocolate, like Ghirardelli. (not that Hershy's is bad haha)

Not so fun fact: wasps don't have these type of stingers that's why they won't die after stinging you once

BTW the reason they die is cuz their organs/ part of their insides is attached to it.

I got stung by a bee a few months ago, and could NOT get a hold of it. I finally had to grab a pair of tweezers to pull it out. Hurt a lot!

For anyone wondering, the background music is the Goosebumps theme music. Thank God for bees and honey by the way.

Fun fact: reportedly, only honey bees have this specific type of stinger, which is bad for them since their anatomy means they pull their guts out whenever it gets stuck.

All other bees and wasps actually have completely straight stingers and thus can retract them easily.
