I work remotely and it honestly has been absolutely incredible. I save so much time from traffic and save so much money from not spending on gas and eating out. I’ve been doing so for the last 7 years out of my 9 years of my career and I hope to keep it that way forever.

When I was younger and people asked me what my favorite holiday was, I being young and naive might have said Christmas because we get presents or Thanksgiving because we eat delicious foods. Now that I’m a grown adult I understand that Labor Day is the only holiday that matters because it was labor unions that gave us weekends off, no more mandatory 12 hour shifts with no overtime, no more child labor. So the next time you’re enjoying your day off on a Saturday or Sunday just remember to be thankful and grateful for labor unions and their hard work.

I've switched my job every 5 years. Plus, I'm retiring early too. 7 more years.

Heads or Tails

In Today's political standing in a modern culture with the common goal of attaining our own survival and prosperity.
There are dividing wealth gaps and cultural diversities.
The turn of the century was a pivotal moment in a young country.
When we rivaled even the most experienced in wit and brawn.

"People are changing careers every 1.3 years" Okay...then wouldn't it make sense to stop tying health insurance to a place of employment and create a single payer system where everyone has the same health insurance that follows you no matter what job you're at? Wouldn't that make things far more stable and make sense for the type of economy we have today?

Are people really “switching careers” like I was a dentist and now I’m an acrobat? Seems like people are switching employers but maybe staying with the same career.

That was a dumb explanation of what was a struggle for dignity, and power for workers.

Interesting how it doesn't mention that Grover Cleveland specifically wanted to have labor day be as long from May Day (the international labor day) as possible so that American workers could not recognize their solidarity with the international labor force.

So Labor Day honors the unions of yesteryear, even though most low income employees still work overtime, weekends, AND don’t even have Labor Day off? They can’t even mention the word “union” out of fear of being fired, due to union busting tactics management were trained to spot and eliminate.

"How did we all end up getting the day off?"
That's the cool thing. *We didn't.* No one cares about giving these holidays off unless you're a federal worker.
