It is mind boggling that no lessons were learned from Katrina: don't use stadiums for shelters & provide buses to evacuate lower income residents.

Who thought that a building with a fabric roof was a good idea as a storm shelter?

It was wild last night in Tampa. The winds were just non-stop. We got 12 inches of rain but thankfully, didn’t lose power. Did lose a gorgeous tall tree though, the wind ripped it out roots and all. Hope everyone else did okay.

I'm in the heart of Tampa and it was intense. No power and wind sound on the windows like they were going to explode. We were not able to sleep. The rain was out of this world. Never seen this amount of rain in my life.

I pray for all the peoples of Florida. Used to live 30 years in St.Pete, Sarasota, Tampa and have never been through a monster like this hurricane. This is insanity!

If you build a stadium in a state susceptible to hurricanes, why throw on a roof like that? What a dumb choice for a shelter!

GOD BLESS the doctors and nurses and workers in the HOSPITAL. THEY have to stay and help people. Blessings to all of them.

Why would they put a cloth type roof on a stadium, in an area frequented by hurricanes?

For the record, the storm came ashore at Siesta Key and not Venice Beach.

Luckily the damage appears bearable . Salutes to the engineers and technical staff who designed and built the cities 👍

Assets were not in that stadium during the hurricane. They were moved before the storm hit.

I went to the Tropicana Stadium and watched the Devil Rays play! Years ago...when I was at the Governor's Hurricane Conference in 2004...You can always fix that, but can't replace people's lives. Hang in there Florida!

I'm thinking because it was so expansive over the gulf, a lot of it's energy was spread out making it qyicker to slow down when it reached land. Thank god.❤

😢God is good ! Amen, Amen ! People " my area is flooded out, houses and businesses have flooded out " flooded cars, and people wading in waist high water " it's heart breaking to see this,
I am on high side and no flood on our property but our neighbors across the street, lost everything " thank God no lives, that we know of, thanks for all the prayers and thoughts during this storm" 😔❤
