Check out this latest video from our "Alternative History" playlist on: "What if Hitler Never Declared War on USA?"

On 11th December 1941, 4 days after Pearl Harbour, Hitler declared war on the USA, and this video seeks to undo 3 main myths surrounding the American war effort: 1) It's impact on the War in Europe, 2) the prominence of the "Europe First" strategy and 3) the seemingly unknown reason why Hitler declared war on the USA.

Hitler's speech from 11th December 1941 (If the link doesn't work, type in "Adolf Hitler's Declaration of War Against the USA" onto Daily Motion):

Sir, remember that even in our timeline, the Red Army was already running out of manpower for offensive capabilities in 1944. Stalin decided against invading Finland at the end of the war, simply because the Red Army did not have the manpower to do that whilst invading Germany. Stalin wrote in his diary that if the D-Day landings in June 1944 failed, he would accept a settlement from the Third Reich including east Poland that the lands south of east Poland. If in another timeline the Soviet Union had less resources and manpower, the most the Red Army could have achieved would have been to get Hitler to accept a settlement that yielded parts of Eastern Europe to the Soviets. Personally I think that the very most the Soviets could have achieved without America being officially involved in the war would have been knocking the German forces back as far as Poland and the Ukraine. The German generals recognised that the line encompassing the Polish and Ukraine eastern borders would be relatively easy to defend against an oncoming Red Army than a line bisecting Russia.

Edit: Without direct American involvement, Britain would not have been able to make D-Day type landings in Western Europe. They might have tried and failed to do so in 1943 or 1944. After they failed, Stalin would have been quicker to betray them and accept a settlement from Hitler. In our timeline he was very seriously considering that anyway.

American intervention was actually very important. Stalin had been in communication with Churchill for almost a year working towards opening a 2nd front in the West, but as Churchill told him. They didn't have the strength to launch a mass land invasion without the United States. Without a 2nd front many battles wouldn't have held out for the Soviets who were on the absolute brink of collapse. Each time the Soviets made gains they lost them twice as hard. In fact, had Stalin not taken a page from the Wests book to decentralize command so that his field commanders could make the calls they needed to make the Soviet Union would've collapsed regardless. Of course, after the Battle of Berlin and the wars end, he recentralized asap, but for a brief moment he put his faith in his people. That's what I believe saved Russia.

Without knowing much about US Navy in the European theatre, they were massive and very dynamic in the Pacific; e.g. Guam Saipan 1944 - 15 fast carriers deploying a thousand planes.

Difficult video to edit, nothing to do with the process itself.

here's the myth, you have not addressed the fact that Britain was on the point of instant collapse when WE showed up, FACT. Without our forces attacking Europe, Africa the Germans would have had the stuff to hold Africa. I grew up with men who WERE there and they were the people I talked about what happened. All that bombing of Germany that really hurt them, they could have had the things necessary to stop the Russians and how about the fact we kept the British in the war. You are not really understanding the affect of our materials and BOMBERS that stopped the manufacturing efforts of the Germans. IF their manufacturing is not hurt I guarantee you the Germans would have had enough to stop the Russians. Enough, dreamer.

One little critique here. Disagree with your statement about Japanese expansion near the end of the video, they very well could and would have kept expanding if they hadn't been blunted. They had raids into the Indian Ocean hitting Ceylon and if the US hadn't stopped them at Guadalcanal then they could have taken further UK/ ANZAC islands further east.

If, for example, all the US carriers had been present at Pearl and/or the oil tanks and drydocks had been damaged, the Japanese could have expanded and entrenched further. Or if Midway had been more successful and in many war games since the Japanese usually are successful at Midway, things would have been much worse through '42. In the end, they would have lost but the war could have dragged on until '46 or even '47 but once the US hit critical mass in production they were doomed.

Quite laughable. England wouldn't have gotten into Germany or Italy w/o Americans. Sounds like a bitter britt.
