- You are highly perfectionistic, fuelled by a constant, critical inner voice of intense shame and fear
- You demonstrate a heightened or excessive sense of responsibility and look for solutions
- You have difficulty accepting and expressing painful emotions, remaining more analytical or "in your head"
- You discount or dismiss any past or present trauma or abuse
- You worry a great deal (but hide that habit) and avoid situations where you're not in control
- You are highly focused on tasks and others' expectations, using accomplishment as a way to feel validated. Yet when accomplishment fades, new pressure assumes itself, and any success is discounted
- You have an active and sincere concern for the wellbeing of others while allowing few (if any) into your inner world
- You hold a strong belief in counting your blessings and feel that any other stance reflects a lack of gratitude
- You have emotional difficulty with personal intimacy but demonstrate significant professional success
- You might have other mental difficulties such as:
- OCD
- GAD
- Control issues
- Eating disorders

Perfection is the most harmful thing towards creativity. Perfection leaves no room for improvement, develpment and research.

Perfectionism is one of the highest forms of self-abuse. I've gone through it, and wasted many years of my life doing literally nothing because of it.

“Progress, not perfection” an affirmation I use to help with my perfectionism

I never started with anything. I just researched for weeks and my original idea developed into a perfect mega-project. With only the end goal in mind, I failed before it even started. It‘s an overthinking problem which originates from perfectionism.

Yesterday I was motionless on the floor lamenteting my inner-suffering. Now, I know I am the one who should claim the glory of the triumph over it.

I used to be a perfectionist. Now, I'm just trying to be good at what I can and like to do and actually enjoy it.

I rarely comment on YouTube, but I’ve just come across your channel and am absolutely blown away by how succinct and insightful your video style is. From one perfectionist to another, you are doing remarkable work. Thank you!🙌

a quote that rlly stuck with me is "paralysis by analysis", and whenever i say it to myself it helps alot to stop overthinking

Fear of success and fear of failure. Let me explain, fear of success is due to reaching your goal then having imposter syndrome and self-doubt. Fear of failure, a thought that we self-prophesize and manifest the outcome of failure via self-sabotage or not even attempting reach our goal because we’re already defeated in our mind.

Your videos have made me recognize things about myself I thought were somehow uniquely mine to suffer through. Hearing someone else say what you feel deep within is very powerful. Thank you!

My mom is fond of the Amish. One thing she shared with me is that when they are creating quilts they sew intentional mistakes into them for all to see. This practice reflects the humility they strive for and their belief that God is perfect and humans are undeniably imperfect. I like to think about that when I'm doing hands-on projects and feeling like it isn't perfect.

I love the way you acknowledge your own imperfections and integrate it so seamlessly into the video

The notion that perfectionism doesn’t equal a greater chance of success/ optimal improvement is an eye opener.
Early last year I was experiencing a lot of negative emotion all at once, which I decided to take a deep dive into, the overwhelming amount of it caused this perfectionist attitude to arise in a spectacular fashion as I took up MMA and set my goals within it sky high. I felt okay doing this because it seemed as long as I was being a total perfectionist and had closer attention to detail than most other people, then I would succeed. An injury last week took me out of training and gave me a lot of time to reflect on many things, this included. Finding healthier ways to be disciplined, focused on improvement and productive as well as be a more intelligent, responsible and creative person who can allow mistakes and imperfections with a healthy, growth-oriented perspective is a journey I feel compelled to embark on; I feel that this video has provided some clear insight into some of the things that may help me and other people learn to overcome debilitating, self-destructive habits that plague them, so señor, to that I would like to offer my thanks. 👍

I have accepted that “do your best” accounts for when I’m depressed or happy. If I only have 20% to give and I give 5% to do a task that’s my best for that day. That I did as good as I could with what I had— this helps me get over my perfectionism too.
This is my best & it’s a little step forward. I don’t compare it to two days ago. And if I get in that mindset, I know I’m not judging with clarity.
But I think aspiring to better & different are good goals too, especially for change.
